The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Fashion Show and Luncheon is one of the most exciting daytime fetes in Dallas — particularly because it’s a shopping extravaganza for couture-coveting fashionistas.
This year devotees gathered at Brook Hollow Golf Club, where they shopped the Chic Boutique for gently used designer goods from Oscar de la Renta, Dior, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, St. John, Roberto Cavalli, Bob Mackie and Stuart Weitzman.
After emptying pocketbooks in the boutique and silent auction, Dallas’ most sophisticated ladies — including honorary chairs Nancy Perot, Suzanne McGee, Carolyn Rathjen, Sarah Perot and Katherine Reeves; auxiliary president Carolyn Miller; Nancy Rogers; Lynn McBee; and Olivia Kearney — took their seats for the fashion show produced by the incomparable Jan Strimple and emceed by WFAA’s Gloria Campos.
Then Captain Michele Matthews, one of the DFW commanders of the Salvation Army, thanked everyone in attendance and talked about the importance of raising funds for the organization that cares for the poor, shelters the homeless and feeds the hungry.
After the show, attendees refueled on an elegant meal and went back to the boutique for last-minute purchases. Co-chairs Karen Dealy and Nancy Bierman brought the annual event to great heights — raising $560,000.
