Pricey Dallas estate in private community keeps a secret out back
A new listing may raise the price bar in a chichi North Dallas neighborhood. The nearly 7,000-square-foot home at 12258 Creek Forest Dr., in the gated Lake Forest community, has just hit the market for $3.9 million.
The house next door had been priced at $3.8 million, says Allie Beth Allman listing agent Keith Conlon, but this one has more packed into it. Price per square foot: $561 and some change.
The house was built in 2011 by well-known Dallas homebuilder George Lewis. With a design reminiscent of a Tuscan villa, it has four bedrooms (including two masters), four baths and an elevator.
But the elevator isn’t the most impressive feature; it’s the view from the back. Beyond the private pool, putting green, fire pit and lake, you can see the office buildings running up the Central Expressway/Forest Lane corridor. It gives this suburban-looking home an urban vibe.
Sliding glass doors connect one of two living areas to the massive back porch, which can be screened in. The house also has a great room with even greater wood beams and a large kitchen with curved center island. Hanging over the island is a wrought-iron fixture that mimics many others in the house, from the dining chandelier to the entry sconces.
The first-floor master suite comprises a sitting area, balcony, bath with double vanities and an almost disconcerting number of mirrors, and a closet with a view. Upstairs are three more bedrooms, plus an extra 570 square feet of storage.
Lake Forest is a gated community (read: HOA) with 68 park-like acres filled with winding creeks, lakes, waterfalls and oak trees. Amenities include walking and jogging tails, dog park, swim pavilion, tennis courts, and picnic areas. Despite the retreat-like setting, in this home you will never lose sight of the fact that you live in a bustling city, even if you’re 10 miles away from downtown.
