Les Femmes du Monde announces 2013 Woman of the Year honoree

No good deed goes unnoticed in Dallas, especially when said deed comes from one of our fearless female leaders. Recently many of those leading ladies gathered at the home of Faye Gould to recognize Les Femmes du Monde’s 2013 Woman of the Year, Mary Lee Cox.

As gala chairwomen Olive Coe, Marilyn Klepak, Therese Rourk and Gould, along with Les Femmes president Nancy Smith Becker, explained, Cox was chosen for her involvement with the World Affairs Council, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and many other charities. And, quite simply, her overarching generosity.

Cox is in very good company. Past recipients of the prestigious award include Gail Thomas, Trinity Trust president and CEO; Laura Bush, former first lady; Florence Shapiro, state senator; and Ruth Altshuler, philanthropist.

Among those gathered for this momentous occasion were Billie Leigh Rippey, Yvonne Crum, Judy Birchfield and Michelle Mew.

Les Femmes du Monde is a service organization that has given $2 million to the World Affairs Council of Greater Dallas and nearly $700,000 to Children’s Medical Center.

Mark your calendar for October 17, when Les Femmes du Monde hosts its 50th anniversary gala at the Dallas Country Club.
