    Where to Shop Now

Where to shop in Dallas right now: 8 must-hit stores for July

    Stephanie Allmon Merry
    Jul 9, 2019 | 4:08 pm

Dallas shopping is as hot as the pavement this month. Local designers have created ingenious bags and body-positive swimwear; an entrepreneur has launched a new subscription and rental service; and there are store expansions, openings, and sales galore. Better grab your purse and pounce.

Lele Sadoughi appearance at Forty Five Ten
Headbands are having a moment around the world, thanks in no small part to royal style-setter Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who has sported them at several high-profile occasions lately. Accessories maven Lele Sadoughi is the new queen of headband designs, and she's coming to Dallas for a personal appearance and trunk show at Forty Five Ten's Highland Park Village location. Fans can shop her latest collection of cult-favorite headbands, iconic acrylic jewelry, and sunglasses from 2-4 pm July 12.

    Swim Shop at Nordstrom Rack
Nordstrom Rack's newly launched Swim Shop dives into eye-catching bathing suits for beach days or pool parties and cover-ups to transition to dry land. The Swim Shop offers a new selection of on-trend swimwear for women, men, and kids, as well as accessories from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom at a savings of up to 70 percent off. The collection includes bikinis, one-pieces, cover-ups, sandals, espadrilles, tote bags, shorts, sunscreen, and more, and is available at all Nordstrom Rack locations and online at NordstromRack.com. (Speaking of sales, if you're a devoted fan of Nordstrom's annual Anniversary Sale, mark your calendar for this year's big event, taking place July 19-August 4.)

    Delgado NYC bags
Like most great inventions, Delgado NYC was born out of necessity. Creator Jerry Delgado has said, "My work bags, gym bags, travel bags or anywhere-in-between bags had one fatal flaw. … It’s what I’ve come to deem as 'the open abyss'. Regardless of the bag, I always found myself digging for lost lip balms, keys, or AirPods." He decided that if he wanted a stylish way to organize his “essential junk,” he would have to create it. So the Gado Bag was born. The Dallas resident selects an assortment of internationally made fabrics and leathers to ensure that the quality of each Gado Bag meets his high standards. And every bag is designed and hand-crafted in his Dallas-based studio. Prices range from $78-$148 and currently are available only on the Delgado NYC website.

Hadleigh’s expansion in Highland Park Village
Move over, Gwyneth. The most recent Goop pop-up space has a new tenant. Hadleigh’s, celebrating its 10th anniversary in Highland Park Village, has taken over the former Goop pop-up location (by the elevator in center court), as of July 5. The new corner space is 350 square feet larger than the previous spot, and it allows them to connect the Ladies shop and Men’s Upstairs Atelier. Meaning: customers now can view all of the incredible Italian-designed pieces under one roof. Hadleigh’s ladies collection, designed by Gable Shaikh, will be exclusively featured at 70 Highland Park Village. The show-stopping interior features blue Terrazzo flooring, blue chaise lounge, and the logo adorning the ceiling — in blue, of course. The tiny Italian-style staircase that leads up to the exclusive men's atelier, so clients can peek into the appointment-only men's shop upstairs.

Outdoor Story at Macy's NorthPark Center
In one of the most unique collaborations this season, Macy's has teamed up with Dick's Sporting Goods and Miracle-Gro for a pop-up experience called "Outdoor Story at Macy's." The “store to explore” is taking place in 36 Macy’s locations nationwide, including Macy’s NorthPark Center in Dallas, from July 9 until some time in September. It promises Macy’s customers an outdoor-inspired playground with a focus on entertaining, bringing the outside indoors, and recreational activities. "Story" will showcase a mix of merchandise from more than 70 brands, as well as community-focused event programming, which ranges from indoor gardening workshops to outdoor activities like kayaking. Check the website for a schedule of special programs.

    Leis Swim by Heidi Leis
Well-known Dallas designer Heidi Leis has launched a new passion project: a line of inclusive, body-positive swimwear. Sizes range from XS to XL — Leis hopes to expand the range in the future — and every silhouette is meticulously fine-tuned to ensure a flattering fit on a variety of shapes. Designed to be both “trendy and classic,” styles are available in vibrant colors inspired by Positano, Italy. Prices range from $90 to $150. Leis Swim launched online June 29, and fans can look for pop-up shops and other events via the brand's Instagram page.

    Parcel22 subscription service
Dallas entrepreneur Natasha August wants to fuse ease and creativity into women's wardrobes with her new startup, Parcel22. The subscription-box clothing and accessories rental service lets subscribers personalize their parcel with the styles they want, wear the items as many times as they want, and return it when they're done. The company says it potentially saves a customer up to 80 percent off retail. Parcel22 is also committed to giving back to the community, having partnered with Genesis Women's Shelter & Support to help support women who have experienced domestic violence.

Y&I Boutique at Shops at Legacy
Former high school debate rivals-turned roommates, best friends, and business partners Robin Boesch and Robyn Sribhen White have teamed up again to open a new boutique at Plano’s Shops at Legacy. Called "y&i" after the one letter that differentiates their first names, the shop will house the fun, flirty, and cheerful styles for the shopper wanting to look fabulous on a budget, they say. Among the treasures shoppers will find are baubles by Waxahachie jewelry designer Sarah Briggs. Also featured are designs by Yumi Kim, Billabong, DL1961, A Gold E, Z Supply, and Gentle Fawn. Until their Plano boutique opens in the fall, shoppers can visit their original Dallas-area location in West Village.

Neiman Marcus owner files bankruptcy, leaving Dallas stores' fate unclear

    John Egan
    Jan 14, 2026 | 2:12 pm
    Neiman Marcus
    Neiman Marcus
The fate of the Neiman Marcus flagship in downtown Dallas is up in the air.

The fate of stores operated by Saks Global, parent company of the Dallas-based Neiman Marcus luxury retail chain, is up in the air following its bankruptcy filing on January 13 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Houston.

For the time being, all of the roughly 160 stores under the Saks Global umbrella, including Neiman Marcus’ 36 locations, will remain open. Seven of Neiman Marcus’ stores are in Texas, including four in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The more than $2 billion in debt that Saks Global amassed to acquire Neiman Marcus in 2024 helped push the company into bankruptcy court. According to The Wall Street Journal, Saks Global is the highest-profile department store chain to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy since the pandemic.

As part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, announced in a news release January 14, Saks Global has secured about $1.75 billion in financing to keep the company afloat and its stores open. A bankruptcy judge must approve the financing package.

In announcing the bankruptcy, Saks Global says it’s evaluating its store lineup “to invest resources where it has the greatest long-term potential. This approach reflects an effort to focus the business in areas where [our] luxury retail brands are best positioned for sustainable growth.”

Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows a business to reorganize its finances and operations. For retailers, the process can include cost-cutting moves such as closing poorly performing stores.

Effectively immediately, Geoffroy van Raemdonck has taken over the CEO role at Saks Global — following the recent departures of CEO Marc Metrick and his short-time successor, Richard Baker. Van Raemdonck, who relocated in 2023 from Dallas to New York City, was CEO of Neiman Marcus before Saks Global bought it in 2024 for $2.7 billion.

“This is a defining moment for Saks Global, and the path ahead presents a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the foundation of our business and position it for the future,” van Raemdonck says in a press release. “I look forward to serving as CEO and continuing to transform the [company] so that Saks Global continues to play a central role in shaping the future of luxury retail.”

The most notable DFW location of Neiman Marcus is the chain’s 129,000-square-foot flagship store in downtown Dallas, which the retailer owns.

Saks Global said last February that it would close the iconic store, which debuted in 1914, on March 31, 2025. But days before the scheduled closure, Saks reversed course and decided to keep the store open — at least temporarily rescuing two of the flagship’s signature features, the upscale Zodiac Room restaurant and the elegant Bridal Salon.

Here’s a list of Neiman Marcus’ seven locations in Texas:

    • Flagship store in downtown Dallas.
    • NorthPark Center in North Dallas (slated to undergo a $100 million renovation).
    • Shops at Clearfork in Southwest Fort Worth.
    • Shops at Willow Bend in Plano (scheduled to close in January 2027).
    • Galleria in Houston’s Uptown District.
    • Domain Northside in North Austin.
    • Shops at La Cantera in Northwest San Antonio.

The retailer’s lower-price sister, Neiman Marcus Last Call, closed most of its locations in 2020 and 2021, but five remain open. They include stores at Grapevine Mills in Dallas-Fort Worth and San Marcos Premium Outlets in the Austin metro area.

In Texas, high-end retailer Saks Fifth Avenue operates one traditional store at The Galleria in Houston and another at North Star Mall in North San Antonio, along with one appointment-only store at Fort Worth’s Bowie House and another at Austin’s Commodore Perry Estate. Across the country, Saks Fifth Avenue operates about 50 traditional and appointment-only stores.

Saks’ lower-price sister, Saks Off 5th, announced in November that it was shuttering nine locations, including its store at Gateway Shopping Center in Northwest Austin. The closures will bring the brand’s store count to 70.
