Dallas blondes and brunettes score big on the philanthropic football field
On Saturday, more than 3,500 fans poured into the Cotton Bowl for the 8th Annual BvB Dallas Powder-Puff Football Game to Tackle Alzheimer's Disease. Literally pitting Team Blonde vs. Team Brunette, the annual game raised over $475,000 over the past 10 weeks for the Center for Vital Longevity at The University of Texas at Dallas and The AT&T Baylor Memory Center.
Each player and coach, clad in Pink (Team Blonde) and Blue (Bru' Crew), raised at least $1,000 to be on the field for the night. Some went above and beyond: Billie Jo Davis raised over $21,100, winning MVP and breaking all fundraising records for BvB Dallas.
Ty Walker of 1310 The Ticket was back for his 7th year to call the game. Cash and Mike Sirois wore pink and blue cowboy hats and took to their respective sidelines as the ever-popular color commentators. DJ EJ, the official DJ of the Dallas Cowboys, kept the crowd pumped up for special guests, The Mavs ManiAACS.
But the real stars of the show were the players: Who says girls can't play football?
Long throws from quarterback Michelle Rowden allowed the Bru' Crew to run past Team Blonde's defense and continue to score. Bru' Crew rookie Jade Randle was unstoppable, scoring three of the team's seven touchdowns. Teammates Kristen Kramer, Mikki Bailey and Jody Schueler all supported.
The Bru' Crew switched up quarterbacks in the 4th quarter and Vanita Crouch threw a touchdown pass to Rowden to seal their fate as 2015 BvB Dallas Game Day Champions.
This win broke the Blondes' three-game winning streak, and is the second win the Brunettes have had in BvB Dallas history.
After the game, Empire 6 took the stage for dancing players from both teams. Fans enjoying beer from sponsor Bud Light as they sang top 40 favorites.
