Tailgate Time
Dallas chefs churn out their best tailgate bites for foodie fundraiser
What: Touchdown Tailgate Tasting
Where: Expressions Home Gallery
The 411: For this first-time fundraiser, top Dallas chefs were tasked with putting creative spins on traditional tailgate food. They started with a box of mystery ingredients that included bratwurst, ribs, pickles, apples, guacamole, and Leprechaun Premium Hard Cider, which turned into such far-ranging dishes as barbecue tamales, made by Anastacia Quinones of Kitchen LTO, and barbecue banh mi sandwiches, from Nathan Tate of Rapscallion and Boulevardier. Despite worthy eats prepared by Remedy’s Danyele McPherson and Five Sixty’s Jacob Williamson, Patton Robertson of Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Shelby Hall took top honors for his barbecue parfait. Robertson not only won over the judges — including yours truly, Sarah Blaskovich, Dawn Neufeld, David Denney, and Steven Lindsey — but also the attendees. Were there drinks too? Naturally, from Reilly’s Whiskey and Leprechaun Premium Hard Cider. Proceeds benefited Cafe Momentum.
