What: Spirit of Taos presented by Friends of Wilkinson Center
Where: The Lot
The 411: More than 300 people rocking cowboy boots packed the popular East Dallas hangout to support the Wilkinson Center. The Southwestern-themed evening kicked off with a margarita happy hour featuring tasty treats such as quesadillas, mini pimiento cheese sandwiches, tostadas, and chicken flautas. Executive director Anne Reeder and event chairs Sloan Looney Dix and Stephanie Taylor gave welcoming remarks before a full seated dinner replete with dessert from Emporium Pies.
Post dinner, Frank in the Middle and Downtown Fever provided the tunes while everyone bought raffle tickets and bid in the silent auction for items like a shoe autographed by Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki, a Florida Beach getaway, and gift certificates to top Dallas restaurants. Kendra Scott mystery jewelry boxes were also on offer for $60 each, and Flashbox Photobooth captured the memories.
The evening raised more than $120,000 for Wilkinson Center, which transforms the lives of Dallas families by providing pathways to self-sufficiency with dignity and respect.
