Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. Oak Cliff diner flips format to focus on breakfast. An Oak Cliff restaurant is changing its mission and name, jumping on the breakfast bandwagon big time. The former Kessler Park Eating House will become Jonathon’s Diner, and it will ditch its dinner service in favor of breakfast and lunch.
2. Gemma’s beloved culinary couple cooks up new Dallas restaurant Sachet. One of Dallas’ top-rated restaurants will get a sibling in 2017. Called Sachet, it comes from Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder, owners of Gemma, the Henderson Avenue eatery beloved by Dallas foodies.
3. Uptown Dallas imports Italian from big-shot restaurateur. Uptown Dallas will get its Italian fix in a big way with the opening of a branch of North Italia, opening at the Union Dallas in 2018. It comes from Fox Restaurant Concepts, parent of True Food Kitchen and soon-to-open Flower Child.
4. Where to eat in Dallas right now: 8 new restaurants with wild themes. There are times when you want to go out for a burger, something simple, nothing complicated. But then there are times when you want to be amazed and impressed. Here are eight new restaurants that do something different.
5. Major Japanese bookstore chain opens Dallas chapters. Kinokuniya, one of the largest bookstore chains in Japan, is coming to the Dallas area, with two stores set to open in early 2017. The first will open in Carrollton in January, with another debuting in Plano in February.
