Chick Lit ladies reveal 2014 luncheon speaker at bauble-filled fete
Chick Lit Luncheon 2014 co-chair Jennifer Evans Morris lured 50 host committee members, sponsors and supporters to Kendra Scott to announce that best-selling author Julia Reed would be the featured speaker at the popular springtime fundraiser.
Ladies sipped cocktails, noshed appetizers and, of course, shopped all the beautiful baubles in the West Village store. That evening, 20 percent of the proceeds helped fill the coffers at Community Partners of Dallas.
Paige McDaniel, Community Partners president and CEO, chatted with attendees — including Francie Mancillas, Katie Robbins, Elizabeth Dacus, Alyson Brown, Jennifer Tobin, Monica Austin, Joanna Clarke, Laura Johnson, Lisa Singleton, Amanda Reynolds, Caytie Langford, Rachel Ratcliff, Jennifer Wegman, Amy Schisler and Stephanie Hardeman — and thanked them for supporting the eighth annual luncheon presented by longtime sponsors Lara and Robert Tafel.
New Orleans-based Reed is the best-selling author of such books as But Mama Always Put Vodka in Her Sangria!: Adventures in Eating, Drinking, and Making Merry, Queen of the Turtle Derby and Other Southern Phenomena; Ham Biscuits, Hostess Gowns and Other Southern Specialties: An Entertaining Life (with Recipes); and The House on First Street: My New Orleans Story. She is also a longtime contributor to Vogue.
The 2014 Chick Lit luncheon is set for April 4, 2014, at Brook Hollow Golf Club. In addition to fun anecdotes with Reed, Community Partners will present the 2014 Partners for Children Award.
