    Tasty Treats

Scope out fresh gifts for all with one-stop shopping at Dallas Farmers Market

If you think you can't finish your holiday shopping in a single day, think again. A one-stop spot with gifts for all the people on your list is not normally an easy thing to find, but this is where the Dallas Farmers Market comes in. It's got artisan foods, hand-crafted goodies, and unique finds that will suit everyone on your list.

Here's a peek at a few of the cool items you'll find this season:

    Gift cards
Rex's Seafood in The Market serves the freshest and highest quality seafood in Dallas. Snag a gift card for anyone who's hard to shop for and give the gift of a night out, or let them cater your holiday get-together with a tasty menu.

Another way you can't go wrong this year? Give the gift of tacos. Taqueria La Ventana (located in The Market) offers gift cards for its famous Mexican street tacos and chef-driven, gourmet burritos, quesadillas, salads, elotes, churros, beers, and margaritas.

    Gift boxes
Who doesn't love macarons, those delicate, filled-meringue treats? Each box of Chelles Macarons is a baker's dozen and makes for a beautiful, delicious gift. Expect a combination of unique and traditional flavors, such as pistachio, cookies and cream, coffee, and birthday cake. And for something a little different, snag a box of macballs — a genius mashup of macarons and cake balls. You can find these in The Market.

Cheese-lovers will rejoice to receive anything from Scardello Artisan Cheese, inside The Market. Beautiful wooden gift boxes filled with any cheese(s) of your choosing are available, plus crackers to accompany. Gift boxes range in price, depending on cheese selection.

    Handmade gifts
For Maya X Kiwi, no animal is off limits. Celebrate cats, dogs, bunnies, zebras, or snakes with hand-painted watercolor pet portraits, which are created with India ink detailing on 8-by-10-inch cold-pressed paper. Highly pigmented colors make the paintings pop, and these are ideal gifts for the animal lover in your life. Maya X Kiwi is located inside The Shed, and works in collaboration with Pets Alive.

Gift some green without spending a lot at Energy Gardens. The boutique inside The Shed sells green gifts at all different price points, including low-maintenance terrariums that make ideal home or office decor. Succulents, cacti, tillandsia (air plants), and tropical plants make up the arrangements, and there are even terrarium necklaces for wearable nature.

Named after the founder's sons, Finn and Remy sells adorable watercolor and ink greeting cards. The local artist, who's located inside The Shed, uses cute critters to breathe life and personality into everyday greetings. A single card is $5 and a box set of eight sells for $30.

    One-of-a-kind gifts
Find a collection of indoor and outdoor furniture pieces and planters from new Market vendor Luxe District Collective. The pieces' fine craftsmanship and functional features set them apart, and you can even score some chic planters for as low as $8.

It doesn't get more Dallas than Bullzerk, the apparel and gifts company that turns out cheeky phrases such as "A little bit of Dez, a little bit of Dak" and "Y'all can kiss my Dallas." Go to its outpost in The Market and load up on sassy T-shirts or grab a variety of coasters as stocking stuffers.

Whether you're looking for a unique accent piece or a truly uncommon gift, Dallas Antique Company is a treasure trove. Specializing in both European antiques and rustic-chic "rustique" decor, the Market vendor has an inventory that's been selected with a careful eye toward design and craftsmanship.

    More edible gifts
You'll go nuts for Everett and Elaine's pecan products — which come in a selection of pies, cakes, and cookies — and so will anyone on your list with a sweet tooth. Choose from a selection of dainty baked goods, candies, and confections, with whole artisan pies priced around $30. You'll find them in The Shed.

Cheers to your health, and your friends' and family's, too. Mother Beverage sells crisp, refreshing, apple-cider vinegar drinks that you can grab on the go, and are infused with fruits, berries, and herbs. Plus there are only five 5 calories (or less) and zero grams of sugar per bottle. Beverages are lightly carbonated and made with 100-percent organic ingredients, never from concentrate. Head to The Shed and get a 12-pack for $33 or 24-pack for $60.

Located in The Shed, The Sconer offers perfectly sized scones topped with a dollop of vanilla cream-cheese icing. They pair well with a cup of tea or coffee and make for an ideal breakfast or afternoon treat. A dozen scones will only set you back $24.

For more gift options, head to the Dallas Farmers Market and check out its wide selection of gifts and treats.

    Mezze and More

Acclaimed Chicago restaurant Aba to debut in Dallas' Design District

Aba, the acclaimed Chicago Mediterranean restaurant known for its creative riffs on hummus and meaty kebabs, is coming to Dallas.

The restaurant, named for the Hebrew word for “father,” is set to open at the in-progress Design District development The Seam, formerly known as the Oak Lawn Design Plaza, at 1444 Oak Lawn Blvd., later this year.

The restaurant will offer both indoor and outdoor dining rooms decked out in tons of greenery, including “large-scale Mediterranean olive trees,” climbing ivy, and potted plants and trees sourced from local purveyors. The design will also be decidedly Mediterranean-inspired, with Moroccan-style lanterns, vintage chandeliers, and vibrant mosaic tiles.

The restaurant is a project of the Chicago-based hospitality group Lettuce Entertain You, which operates more than 100 restaurants of all kinds across the country. The group made its first foray into Texas in 2020, when they opened an outpost of Aba in Austin. Dallas is the fourth city for Aba, joining the Austin location, the original in Chicago, and a Nashville restaurant that opened in September 2025.

“We’ve been humbled by the positive response from our guests in Austin, and we are excited to expand into the Dallas market,” says executive partner Marc Jacobs. “We look forward to bringing our warm hospitality, California-inspired mezze-style menu and energetic ambiance, transporting guests to a vacation in the Mediterranean.”

Top Chef contestant CJ Jacobson is in charge of the menu at Aba, which focuses on both hot and cold mezze dishes and a solid line-up of proteins like pistachio-crusted halibut, shawarma-spiced steak frites, and slow-braised short rib in pomegranate-date glaze. The hummus selection is especially compelling, with options including a beef brisket hummus with smoky barbecue sauce and an iteration that’s topped with a buttery mushroom ragu made with four different types of mushrooms.

Kebabs also have their own section on the menu, with both vegetarian options like grilled mushrooms and meatier options on offer, including grilled chicken and kafta.

Though this is Lettuce Entertain You’s first Dallas restaurant, the chain officially planted its flag in the Metroplex in 2025 with the arrival of the Lone Star Smokeout, a barbecue festival with live music that’s expected to make its return in April 2026.

No official opening date for Aba has been announced, but expect it to arrive sometime in late 2026.
