    This Week's Hot Headlines

Giant new fitness studio pumps up this week's 5 hottest Dallas headlines

    Stephanie Allmon Merry
    Dec 22, 2018 | 10:00 am

Editor's note: A lot happened this week, so here's your chance to get caught up. Read on for the week's most popular headlines.

    1. Huge fitness studio from Las Vegas gets pumped for first Dallas gym. A mega-fitness studio from Las Vegas will open its first Dallas location near NorthPark Center in spring 2019. TruFusion, which will house five studios under one roof, broke ground December 19 at 9100 N. Central Expy., in Caruth Plaza shopping center, near North Central Expressway and Park Lane.

    2. TreeHouse home store shutters Dallas location, Plano not far behind. Eco-friendly home-improvement store TreeHouse has closed its Dallas store, and the days are numbered for its location in Plano. The company would not verify closure dates, but the Dallas store has been closed for more than a week.

    3. International Neapolitan pizza chain opens first U.S. location in downtown Dallas. An international pizza concept is opening its very first location in America in Dallas: Called 400 Gradi, it's a Neapolitan-style pizza concept that will open at 2000 Ross Ave., the glitzy new vertical mixed-use development which will boast retail space, residential living, and a boutique hotel.

    4. Dallas Housewives star gets real about humanitarian work at charity gala. The 2018 Mercury One M1 Ball was a big, glittery affair with even bigger heart. Event chairs D’Andra Simmons-Lock and Jeremy Lock (of Real Housewives of Dallas fame) brought together internationally recognized supporters and patrons — along with local friends and leaders in the arts, social, and business communities — for a powerful night of fundraising, and plenty of fun on the side.

    5. Favorite Dallas spa expands to second location in cool shopping complex. Dallas will get sooooo much more relaxed with a second location of beloved Hiatus Spa + Retreat, which will open in spring 2019 in a buzzy shopping complex across town from the flagship.

Dallas tennis and racquet sports facility T Bar M Racquet Club has been transformed into Banner House at T Bar M, a new private club combining sports facilities with hospitality options.

Located at 6060 Dilbeck Ln., the facility is now under the leadership of WoodHouse, whose experience in the private club realm includes Park House at Highland Park Village, and in Houston.

Founded in 1972 by Texas tennis legends Jack Turpin, Tut Bartzen, and Clarence Mabry, T Bar M Racquet Club has served as a destination for tennis and racquet sports enthusiasts. The newly transformed Banner House at T Bar M will debut as a next-generation private club, blending world-class racquet sports, luxury hospitality, wellness, and cultural experiences.

Construction has been ongoing throughout the year, with the original clubhouse still open to members. The new Clubhouse officially opened to Banner House members in early March. In early May, Banner House will host an official unveiling of the expanded facilities.

    Which include:

    • 22 hard courts, three red-clay courts, one grass court, eight pickleball courts, five padel courts
    • wellness spa & resort-style pool
    • dining concepts and members-only lounges
    • Social events such as champagne and caviar nights, supper clubs, and mixology experiences
    • Wellness & fitness events like yoga on the courts, guided meditation, and wellness workshops
    • Racquet Sports training programs, tournaments, and social play opportunities
    • Next Gen Club – For kids and teens, featuring holiday festivals, parent-child tournaments, scavenger hunts, and junior sports academies
    • Culinary & Beverage – A Michelin-starred chef-driven culinary experience, including Japanese omakase at ‘The Nook,’ a poolside taqueria, and intimate dining concepts.

There's also art from Art Basel, the Dallas Art Fair, and global artists.

Food and beverage programs will be led by Executive Chef Steven Lartz, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants. Options include The Nook, a Japanese omakase restaurant with Executive Sushi Chef Jun Takahashi and Executive Sous Chef Tai Nguyen; a poolside restaurant, The Taqueria, the dining room, garden dining and courtside patio dining.

Membership prices are … well if you have to ask, you can't afford. Dues start at $195 per month for students aged 21-25.

    A full-club membership for single/unmarried members only who are over 30 is $495 a month. Plus: a $16,500 initiation fee. A full-club membership for single/unmarried members who are under 30 is $345, with a $10,000 initiation fee.

Aside from getting access to all of the various amenities, Full Club members are given priority nomination privileges, offering the ability to nominate 10 individuals for preferential membership consideration. Very Ponzi scheme!

Family memberships range from $550 to $645 per month, with initiation fees ranging from $15,000 to $35,000.

WoodHouse owns and operates Park House Dallas and Houston; Jose, the chef-driven Mexican restaurant; and Dior Café by Dominique Crenn in Dallas’ Highland Park Village. Plus: Citizen House Oklahoma City, Elevation Hotel & Spa in Crested Butte, Pilgrimage Music Festival, and The Moore Miami, a luxury private members club, work space and hotel in the Miami Design District.
