Only 7 percent of singles met their last first date at a bar, but that’s because they haven’t been to the Loon recently.
In the area of frequency, it appears that bros and broads with iPhones and tablets are dating more than any other gadget holders, as 45 percent of them went on at least one date in 2012.
And not to boast, but a quarter of single journalists were out on the town with a member of the opposite sex at least four times in 2012 — the highest of any occupation.
It’s still true that most people get first dates through friends (22 percent), but online dating sites are a close second (20 percent). Only 7 percent of singles met their last first date at a bar, but that’s because they haven’t been to the Loon recently.
It appears the “three day” rule is no longer in fashion, as 78 percent of guys and 49 percent of gals contact their dates within three days after a good encounter. Calling is still preferred over texting, 61 to 14 percent.
As for the swapping of saliva and whatnot, 92 percent of singles and 0 percent of Puritans said a peck on the cheek is appropriate, with Houston leading the pack at 95 percent.
New York men are most comfortable with sex on the first date at 41 percent, but they’re going to be hard pressed to find it in Manhattan, because only 10 percent of NYC’s women agreed with them.
As we mentioned above, nobody matches Dallas.
Of course, it might be all talk: Only 6 percent of singles across the country said they have had sex on the first date. You’re all a bunch of teases.
