12-year-old North Texas girl dies after risky post-pool car ride
A 12-year-old girl who fell from a moving car on June 17 has died from her injuries. The Crowley Police Department reports that the girl was taken off life support around 11:30 pm on June 25.
The girl was one of six children who rode home from the Creekside Community Pool on the hood of a car. An intoxicated Kisha Young, the mother of some of the children, was behind the wheel.
Young, 38, and another mother who was a passenger, allowed their children to "ride outside the vehicle" because their clothes were wet from swimming. The kids, ages 8 to 14, fell off the car once it was in motion.
Police said at least three of the children suffered serious injuries.
Thus far, Young has been charged with intoxication assault, serious bodily injury to a child and driving while intoxicated with a child under the age of 15. She was released from jail on a $110,000 bond last week.
The Crowley Police Department said in a statement that it is working with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office to determine what "further actions" will be taken on this case.
