    Here's How It Works

Why more Texans are choosing medical cannabis for relief

Barry never expected to outlive his son. The grief alone was unbearable and then came a stage 4 colorectal cancer diagnosis. Every day felt like a battle, both physically and emotionally.

Traditional medications left Barry drained and offered little relief until he found out that he qualified for medical cannabis in Texas. For the first time since his son's passing and his cancer diagnosis, Barry found a natural alternative that alleviated his symptoms without side effects.

Barry's story is one of thousands. Yet, many Texans remain unaware that medical cannabis is legal and can offer relief for over 150 approved conditions like cancer, PTSD, neuropathy, spasticity and more. Here's what you need to know about medical cannabis in Texas.

    What's currently legal in Texas?
The Compassionate Use Program (CUP) was established in 2015, and today, more than 150 conditions qualify for medical cannabis. Here's how it works:

    • No medical card required: Instead of a physical card, registered physicians submit digital prescriptions to the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas.
    • High-quality, lab-tested products: The Department of Public Safety oversees licensed dispensaries to ensure all medical-grade products are safe and consistent.
    • Ingestible products are permitted: Patients can choose from tinctures, gummies, topicals, chocolates and beverages, with formulations ranging from THC-only to high-CBD options. Full-spectrum RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) and products containing cannabinoids like CBN and CBG are also available

How to get a prescription in Texas
Getting a medical cannabis prescription is simple and can be done virtually or in person, no matter where you are in Texas. To get started:

    1. Meet with a registered physician: Schedule an appointment with a physician registered to prescribe under the Compassionate Use Program.
    2. Get your prescription: If eligible, the physician will add your prescription to the secure online registry.
    3. Fill your prescription: Pick up your medication at a licensed dispensary like Texas Original or have it delivered to your home.

Is medical cannabis right for you?
Medical cannabis is providing Texans with a natural alternative where traditional treatments have fallen short. Start your journey to relief by visiting texasoriginal.com. Plus, get a 20 percent discount on your first order and earn reward points for future purchases.
