John Wayne Film Festival reveals lineup for first-ever Dallas showcase
In case you were doubting that April really is the month of film in Dallas, along comes the John Wayne Film Festival, taking place at LOOK Cinemas April 24-27. The festival has released its full roster of films, one that showcases 11 of Wayne's best films over a 25-year period from 1948 to 1973.
Those movies include opening night flick The Quiet Man, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Green Berets, The Searchers, True Grit (for which Wayne won his only Oscar) and more.
Because Wayne was best known for Westerns, they dominate the lineup, with only The Quiet Man and The Green Berets delving into other genres. Maybe next time Sands of Iwo Jima or The Longest Day will be included.
Special guests at the festival include Ann-Margaret, who co-starred with Wayne in The Train Robbers, at a screening of that film. Wayne relatives Patrick Wayne, Melinda Wayne Munoz, Ethan Wayne, Marisa Wayne and Anita Swift will attend The Quiet Man screening.
Tickets for the festival are $20 per screening and are now on sale through the LOOK Cinemas website. Festival passes start at $250 and can be purchased through the John Wayne Foundation. Anyone buying a $500 pass or higher also receives tickets to parties on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
