Dallas Breakout Star
Former Dallas actress and breakout star jumps from Emmy nod to The Mindy Project
Actress and Second Thought Theatre executive ensemble member Allison Tolman, who recently received an Emmy nomination for her work on FX's Fargo, has announced that she will be joining The Mindy Project for two episodes in its third season.
She will play Abby Berman, a "sweet romance novelist" who goes on a disastrous blind date with frat-boy doctor Peter Prentice, played by Adam Pally.
Fargo creator Noah Hawley called his firing of Allison Tolman a "crime and a tragedy," but her participation in the second season wouldn't be possible. Because it's set in 1979, her character, Molly Solverson, would only be 4 years old.
Tolman was a member of Second Thought Theatre from its founding in 2004, and she also performed with the company's improv comedy troupe, the STDs. Her involvement escalated in the late '00s, and she was a prominent voice with Second Thought before moving to Chicago in 2009.
Season three of The Mindy Project project premieres September 16 on Fox.
