It's beginning to look a lot like ...
New holiday extravaganza brings skating, Santa, and lights galore to Globe Life Field
The holiday lights will shine brightly once again around Arlington's Globe Life Field. A new, immersive experience called Luminova Holidays promises millions of twinkling lights, an outdoor ice rink, and larger-than-life displays throughout the yuletide season.
"Even the Big Guy in red will be at the sprawling indoor and outdoor wonderland, ready to hear everyone’s holiday wishes," a release says.
The family-friendly event replaces the similar Enchant: World's Largest Christmas Light Maze & Market, which illuminated the area around neighboring Globe Life Park for two holiday seasons but sadly went dark for 2019. In its two-year run, Enchant had become one of Dallas-Fort Worth's most popular holiday attractions. (The two events are unrelated.)
According to the release, highlights of Luminova Holidays, running November 20-January 3, will include:
- 2.7 million lights throughout over 270,000 square feet inside and outside of Globe Life Field
- 10,000-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink
- 65-foot Christmas tree
- Photo opps galore
- Interactive activities, including light-up hopscotch
- Train rides for the kids
- Strolling holiday entertainers
- Old Saint Nick and his elves
- Booths with food and special mementos
The popular Texas Christkindl Market will not be part of the event, a spokeswoman confirms. Christkindl Market predated Enchant, but the Christmas market lost some luster with holiday shoppers when it got folded into Enchant, requiring admission to the larger event to attend. The market returned on its own in 2019, in the adjacent Texas Live complex. Plans for 2020 have not been announced.
Luminova Holidays is co-produced by Gabe Hoffart and Dixie Baker, 15-year entertainment veterans. Baker is also co-founder of Fort Worth creative marketing agency Sovic Creative.
The experience is co-presented with the Texas Rangers and will be the first event open to the public at their new stadium. Enhanced COVID-19 safety protocols and social distancing measures will be enforced, organizers say.
“With the challenges this year has brought to so many, it was more important than ever to safely bring families and friends together to create a fun and memorable holiday experience,” says Baker.
Tickets go on sale October 9, with prices starting at $14.99. Sign up early at LuminovaHolidays.com to gain early access and save 20 percent on tickets until October 8. Military/first responders, seniors, and group discount pricing are available.
A family pack, which includes two adults and up to three kids, starts at $59.99. Packages for groups up to 40 people and VIP tickets, which include a luxury suite, are also available. Tickets can be purchased on the website.
Dates and tickets are limited. The event is open November 20-22; November 25-29; then closed for two weeks during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at Globe Life Field; and then open again for three weeks, December 13-January 1.
