Country stars line up for George Strait's final tour date at AT&T Stadium
A big to-do was made back in September when George Strait announced that his final tour date would be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. There was less fanfare today, when Strait announced the concert's date — Saturday, June 7, 2014 — and the special guests for the show, which include nearly every big name in country music.
Accompanying Strait will be Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Lee Ann Womack. Each of the stars will sing three songs, so if you do the math and account for songs Strait will do solo ... yeah, that's going to be one monster of a concert.
As if that wasn't enough, Asleep at the Wheel, the so-called “Kings of Texas Swing," will serve as opening act.
Lest there be any confusion about what exactly the word "final" means in this case, today's announcement cleared things up. While Strait will no longer do any big tours, he will continue to put out new music and will continue to perform the occasional, most likely smaller scale, concert.
The exact time and range of ticket prices for the final concert date were not announced, but tickets will go on sale on Friday, December 6 at 10 am via his official website.
