Some Nights in September
Get ready for Fun: Grammy-nominated band finally headlines a big Dallas venue
Even though the band Fun is up for Best New Artist at this Sunday's Grammy Awards — not to mention Best Album, Best Record and Best Song — the group has never headlined at a big venue in Dallas.
True, Fun is no stranger to the area. The group has twice performed at the House of Blues Dallas, including in March 2012, just after album Some Nights was released. Fun was also in town recently for The Edge's holiday concert extravaganza at Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie.
But for anybody who missed those dates or didn't get on the bandwagon early enough, Fun is heading back to Dallas on September 12 to play Gexa Energy Pavilion, marking the first time the band will headline a large-venue concert in the area. Fun will be joined by Tegan and Sara, a duo the group cites as a major influence on its current work.
Fun coming back to Dallas in September is actually a bit of double-edged sword. On the one hand, many more people will be able to see the group live for the first time. However, the show will come almost 19 months since Some Nights was released, which could dampen the thrill of hearing the songs live.
But who knows? By that time, the band may be testing out some new songs, giving Dallas fans an opportunity to be the first to hear the new music.
Tickets are currently in presale mode, although anybody can use the password SOMENIGHTS on the LiveNation page to gain access to the presale. Tickets for the general public go on sale February 15.
