Editor's note: A lot happened this week, so here's your chance to get caught up. Read on for the week's most popular headlines. Looking for the best things to do this weekend? Find that list here.

    1. Popular Dallas DJ partners up to open his own burger shop in Oak Cliff. A Dallas DJ and favorite in Dallas' dance scene is getting into the burger game: Will Rhoten, better known as DJ Sober, is opening a new burger joint called Herby's Burgers, at 2109 S. Edgefield Ave. in Oak Cliff, in the space previously occupied by Pizza Fritta.

    2. New food park in East Dallas lets kids roam freely while the parents sip. A family-friendly outdoor food park has opened in East Dallas: Shindig Food Park, located at 3732 Samuell Blvd., is a new destination for families to eat and relax without worrying about their kids.

    3. Lubbies Bagels in East Dallas takes a pause after customer avalanche. Lubbies Bagels is a small shop that opened, briefly, in East Dallas. When they announced their August 2 opening date, they also requested that customers cut them a little slack. But Lubbies got deluged with lines, engendering long waits, so much so that the shop got overwhelmed, and on August 5, announced they would temporarily close down.

    4. Best places to view Perseid meteor shower's peak in North Texas and beyond. The Perseid meteor shower, the biggest meteor shower of the year, will be at its most visible state the night of Saturday, August 12 until the early morning of Sunday, August 13. Here are the best cities, towns, and state parks around North Texas (and beyond) to view it.

    5. Amtrak resuscitates high-speed bullet train from Dallas to Houston. In the latest chapter in the saga of the high-speed bullet train between Houston and Dallas, Amtrak is now involved. Texas Central Partners and Amtrak are exploring a partnership to work together on the proposed Dallas-Houston high-speed rail project that's been under consideration for more than a decade.

Neon-saturated Glow or Go immersive experience lights up Dallas

There's a new spot in Dallas for those still enchanted by immersive experiences: Called Glow or Go, it's a neon-saturated glow-in-the-dark real-life video game experience, now open in the Design District at 921 N. Riverfront Blvd. #100, in the same location as another immersive experience called Sensas.

Both concepts are from Fever, a global live entertainment company that specializes in immersive exhibitions, interactive theatrical experiences, concerts, and festivals. Glow or Go is more of an adult-centered concept, while Sensas is all ages.

A release describes Glow or Go as "part neon dream, part physical challenge," combining the energy of an arcade with the thrill of a game show. Guests face off in 13 glow-in-the-dark challenges such as obstacle courses, reflex games, and coordination tests, set in a pulsing, LED-lit environment.

Whether you're in it to compete or just want to laugh your way through with a group, it’s an offbeat outing for families, friends, date nights, or team bonding.

Glow or Go challenges teams of 4-8 players to complete a mission: restore color to a lifeless world by conquering five high-energy game zones. Each zone challenges a different skill as players race to restore color and unlock the final paint blast.

    The different game zones include:

    • Pink Panic: A high-tech twist on Whack-a-Mole with lights, sound, and multiple game modes to push your reflexes to the limit
    • Red Reflex: Navigate a laser-filled maze without getting caught—stealth, speed, and precision are key
    • Yellow Yell: Solve puzzles and launch objects at six targets with the possible solutions—how good is your aim?
    • Orange Outrun: Dodge fireballs, leap across platforms, and collect keys in a team game where The Floor is Lava—literally
    • Solara: The grand finale. One last mission, one massive paint blast. Will your team restore color to the world—or vanish into the void?

Glow or Go is designed for birthdays, team-building events, or a night out with friends. The event runs 75 minutes and kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets prices depend on your group size, starting at $28 per person for groups of eight, up to $42.80 for groups of three, and are available through the Fever website.
