1. 'Wide-awake' Dallas neighbor is 2nd best U.S city for families, says Fortune. Fortune advises readers to not let Wylie’s “picturesque, historic downtown fool you.” And for good reason. The magazine hails the North Texas city as “a fast-growing, modern community that doesn’t skimp on the amenities.” Thanks in large part to those amenities, Fortune puts Wylie at No. 2 on its list of the 25 best places in the U.S. for families to live.
2. One of Dallas' last rock stations KEGL The Eagle flips to sports talk radio. In what is the worst-kept secret in the history of radio, longtime Dallas rock radio station 97.1 "The Eagle" KEGL-FM has changed to a talk radio format, headed up by big radio name Mike Rhyner, effective October 3.
3. Beto to visit Dallas college campuses following debate on TV with Abbott. On November 8, Texas will vote for its next governor — choosing from either incumbent Republican Greg Abbott or Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke. Following their debate on September 30, O'Rourke visited two Dallas-area campuses on October 3, part of a newly launched College Tour.
4. Cookie chain coming to Dallas' Lake Highlands does its cookies extra-thick. An extra-extra cookie chain from California is coming to Texas: Called the Cookie Plug, it features fresh baked cookies that are exceptionally thick, and it's opening a storefront in Dallas' Lake Highlands, at 7215 Skillman St., in the Kingsley Square shopping center at the intersection of Walnut Hill Lane.
5. Cosmic Cafe space on Dallas' Oak Lawn is officially on the market. The two buildings that housed the former Cosmic Café in Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood are officially for sale.
