New playhouse debuts in Dallas with pickleball plus newly buzzy padel
A new indoor pickleball place has opened in central Dallas from a familiar hospitality team: Called Preston Playhouse, it's a new project with both pickleball as well as padel ball, the new pickleball, and it's from Dallas-based WoodHouse, whose other hospitality venues include Park House Dallas, José, and T Bar M Racquet Club.
The playhouse is in a former LA Fitness at 13130 Preston Rd., next door to T Bar, which also offers the pickleball-padel combo as well. A release says that T-Bar is undergoing a renovation and reimagining set to debut later in 2024.
The space also caters to those who play padel, another rapidly growing racquet sport that combines elements of squash and tennis. The ndoor padel courts at Preston Playhouse are some of the only indoor courts in the area where lovers of the sport can gather and sharpen their skills.
Preston Playhouse offers an indoor social and racquet sport experience, for those seeking a climate-controlled pickleball game, with nine pickleball courts, plus two padel courts and a heated swimming pool, plus inviting lounges and casual food and beverage service.
In addition to open play, Preston Playhouse will offer pickleball and padel lessons taught by the professionals of T Bar M Racquet Club, including Nico Agritelley and Tam Trinh. The indoor heated pool is also available for swimming lessons upon request, and standard lane rentals are $15 an hour.
Preston Playhouse offers separate pickleball and padel memberships, each with various categories including single players, families, and young professionals, and special discounts for first responders. Renewal options include annual or monthly memberships for every member type.
Members of the public looking to book a court without a membership can do so on the Preston Playhouse website within 24 hours of their desired court time; members are able to book up to seven days in advance.
They're calling it a "multi-functional pop-up space," which would seem to imply it won't be here forever, but for now it's open weekdays from 7 am-8 pm, and until 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
