A new offering from Macy's helps serve customers who want their purchases right now this minute. The department store chain has partnered with delivery company Deliv, whose same-day service has expanded in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Macy's offers same-day delivery for $5 above ground shipping. Deliv's goal is to compete with Amazon’s same-day delivery program, introduced in 2014.

"When we piloted same-day delivery in eight markets initially last fall, we learned that our customers appreciate the additional option of having their purchase brought to their home or office in a matter of hours," says R.B. Harrison, of Macy’s, in a release.

It also promises to let customers choose their delivery time. "Today's consumers want the convenience of picking exactly when their packages will arrive — not sometime in the next two to five days or sometime before 8 pm," says Deliv CEO Daphne Carmeli.

The website says that you can get a package delivered "even 9 am on Sunday, or 8 pm on Thursday," for a price that's the same or less than what others charge for standard 3- to 5-day shipping. Deliv drivers are "people in your local community." With all of these delivery services like Caviar and Artizone and Plāt, and Lash, there seems to be a big job market for drivers.

Deliv previously operated in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Northern New Jersey, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. With the expansion, Deliv will service 17 markets.

In addition to Dallas-Fort Worth, other new markets include Atlanta, Boston, New York City metro area (including Brooklyn, Queens and Western Long Island), Orange County and Philadelphia. Areas surrounding those cities will roll out through the end of August, with New York launching in early October.

Headquartered in Menlo Park, California, Deliv is a crowdsourced, "last mile" logistics company that powers same-day delivery from national and local retailers. Customers can choose a same-day delivery option as they shop from their website, mobile app or brick-and-mortar store.
