Galleria Dallas unveils 7 new stores selling shoes, jewelry, lingerie

Buzzy North Dallas mall Galleria Dallas is entering 2023 with a bang: According to a release, the center has seven new stores that have recently opened or will in the coming months. There's also change afoot for iconic jewelry store Bachendorf's, which is expanding its footprint.

A recent story in Forbes reports that, despite all the gloomy predictions about shopping malls that during the pandemic, retail is in great shape. Malls fulfill the social aspect of shopping, which people still crave. So take that, mall naysayers.

Here's the list of new shops:

Mango. Spanish clothing design and manufacturing company features the latest trends in fashion, footwear, and accessories for women, men, teens, children, and home. This will be Mango’s first North Texas location and will open on Level 1 near Tiffany & Co. Opening: fall.

Intimissimi. Italian brand sells women's clothing, lingerie, bras, and underwear in chic yet comfortable styles. This will be Intimissimi's first store in Texas, and will be located on Level 1 across from Sephora. Opening: spring.

Tippy Tot Shoes. Designer toddler footwear traditionally found in other retailers opens its first retail storefront. Tippy Tots is independently owned and provide high-quality shoes with excellent foot support, comfort, and a foundation for healthy feet. The shop will be on Level 3 near Auntie Anne’s. Opening: spring.

Offline by Aerie. Activewear wing of Aerie, and sister company of American Eagle features leggings, sports bras, and tanks made from fabrics that are quick-drying and built for movement. Galleria Dallas is the only Texas location to host all three American Eagle brands. On Level 2 next to Aerie. Open: now.

Banter. Earrings, necklaces, charms, rings, bracelets, and body jewelry, with piercings done in-store. On Level 2 next to Build-A-Bear. Open: now.

Bonsai Paper Co. First brick & mortar location for this stationery store which offers gift wrapping services and handmade gifts. On Level 3 next to Earthbound Trading Co. Open: now

Great American Cookies. Home to the original Cookie Cake. On Level 2, next to Haagen-Dazs and near Shoe Palace. Open: now.

Bachendorf’s Jewelers. Shop with finest diamonds, designer jewelry, and timepieces is expanding in 2023. During construction, the store will move to a temporary location on Level 1 next to Gucci. The expansion is expected to be complete this summer.

Massive Goodwill store in Garland reopens as 2nd largest in the U.S.

The Goodwill in Garland is the largest in Texas.

A major expansion has made a Garland Goodwill store nearly the largest of its kind in the country. Goodwill Industries of Dallas officially reopened its "Broadway store," at 451 W. Interstate 30 #100, on April 30 after a major renovation. The new-and-improved store is twice its previous size.

According to a release, at 31,000 square feet, the Broadway Store and Donation Center is now the largest Goodwill in Texas and the second largest in the U.S.

The expansion will significantly boost inventory turnover. According to the organization, the store will introduce about 10,000 new items daily, including clothing, home goods, and accessories. At that pace, inventory cycles through the store roughly every four weeks, they say.

“Our newly expanded Garland store sets the gold standard for Goodwill in Texas — not only as our largest location, but as our most operationally complex,” says Tim Heis, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Dallas, in the release. “Turning out 10,000 fresh items every single day requires a tremendous, coordinated effort behind the scenes to make sure our shelves are always stocked with new finds."

The reopening comes amid "explosive growth" in the resale sector, Goodwill says. A 2024 report from ThredUp found that the U.S. secondhand market grew 11 percent in 2023 (growing seven times faster than the broader retail clothing sector) and is projected to reach $73 billion by 2028.

“As consumers are increasingly turning to resale for its affordability, unique product variety, and positive environmental impact, the new Garland store redefines what’s possible — every visit promises one of the widest, most frequently refreshed selections anywhere in North Texas,” says Joel Ibanez, vice president, Donated Goods Retail.

To support its larger retail footprint and meet demand, Goodwill Dallas has also expanded its donation network, they say, opening new Donation Express locations in Frisco, Plano, and Lantana in recent months and bringing the total number of donation drop off locations in North Texas to 52.

The Garland store includes a drive-up donation center, and additional sites are in development across North Texas, they say.

"Over the past two years, Goodwill Dallas has experienced record-breaking performance, earning recognition as the top performing Goodwill in the country for two consecutive years," they say in the release.
