Plano home design studio welcomes royal furniture line with Texas-sized tea
To introduce the Althorp Collection British furniture line, Kathy Adams Furniture + Design in Plano got creative, hosting a “Downton to a Tea” featuring myriad royal treats.
For starters, a Park Place Premier white Bentley convertible and a black Rolls Royce Phantom greeted guests — including Charlene Boyton, Barbara Vaughn, Nancy Addison, Claudia Nelson, Gail Denton and Maija Salem — who joined Kathy Adams herself at the British-themed affair.
The University of North Texas showcased historic designer gowns from the Texas Fashion Collection, in the spirit of characters from Downton Abbey. And royal gunsmith Holland & Holland displayed their luxury wares, explaining there are only four gun rooms in the world, one of which is located in Dallas at deBoulle.
Attendees also enjoyed a scotch whiskey tasting courtesy of The Dalmore and a traditional high tea served by Cavallini. Bonnie Itzeg, owner of the popular coffee and tea company, gave mini presentations on the history of British teas.
The Althorp Collection is a furniture reproduction line based on the antiques found in the Spencer family’s historic estate in Althorp, England. Charles Spencer, the ninth Earl of Spencer and the late Princess Diana’s younger brother, established the partnership with the Theodore Alexander furniture company to maintain the history of the Spencer family and to showcase the detail of the family’s historic antiques.
