Style makers Jan Showers and Kimberly Whitman extend Dallas welcome to author Ronda Carman
Dallas designer Jan Showers and D Living co-host Kimberly Schlegel Whitman hosted an elegant afternoon fete for All The Best blogger Ronda Carman, to celebrate her new book Designers at Home: Personal Reflections on Stylish Living.
While in Showers’ Design District showroom, we sat down with Carman, who gave us some insight into her book.
“It was always a dream to publish a book, and the fact that [Rizolli] published it is amazing,” she said. Rizzoli International Publications produces the crème de la crème of coffee table books; in our place we’re stacking Designers at Home right next to Alberto Oliva and Norberto Angelettis’ In Vogue and Carine Roitfeld’s Irreverent.
For her tome, Carman went inside the homes of 50 different designers — a mix of up-and-comers and already famous. She asked each designer a list of questions to give readers insight into his or her everyday world.
Showers is among the style makers featured in the book, so we couldn’t very well ask Carman to name her favorite designer. Instead she told us about her one of her favorite spaces featured between the covers.
“I always loved Rob Passal’s apartment,” she said about the home of the esteemed New York interior designer. “It just feels so good when you’re there, and he’s a great host.”
Carman didn’t hold back about sharing what she cherishes about her own home, including the intangibles. “It’s not about material items. I like to have people around and creating memories,” she said.
On hand for the stylish scene: Dwell with Dignity’s Lisa Robison and Kim Turner, Kyle Knight, Myrna Schlegel, Brad Clifford, Sam Saladino, Barbara Daseke, David Cadwallader, Leslie Bell, Claire Dewar, Breck Woolsey, Charles Taylor, Kari Kloewer, and Muffin Lemak.
All proceeds from book sales that evening went to Dwell with Dignity.
