Unbranded Opener
Innovative Deep Ellum pop-up Unbranded reveals first round of creative tenants
Unbranded, the Deep Ellum pop-up conceived by Dallas entrepreneurs Matt Alexander and Bryan DeLuca, has announced the exhibitors for round one. The shop, located at 2614 Elm St., officially opens to the public on Monday, November 3.
So if you drop by next week, you can meet reps and shop merch from the following brands and artists:
- Need, the online menswear and lifestyle retailer founded by Alexander
- Foot Cardigan, the sock company co-founded by DeLuca
- Quixotic, a line of pocket squares launched by David Novak
- Of Mud & Coal, fine leather goods from Seth Cummings
- Local portrait artist and former Fairmont artist-in-residence Riley Holloway
- Travel photographer Austin Mann
Each group will occupy the space for about a week, Monday through Saturday, although some may be there for only a day or two. While hanging out with these creative types, you can also settle in with a cup of coffee from Tweed or something stiffer from local distilleries and brewers. Tweed folks will conduct workshops Wednesday through Saturday if you need some tips in the art of coffee brewing.
The purpose of Unbranded is to provide free retail and events space to entrepreneurs, designers, developers, photographers, artists and the like for a couple of months to help them gain exposure. In addition to Tweed, Unbranded sponsors MailChimp, SoftLayer, Vela Keller PC, Reel FX and Common Desk have helped make this project possible.
“We’re extremely excited to help introduce Dallas to these amazing creators and makers,” DeLuca says. “Matt and I know what it’s like to have the support of the community when building something, so we wanted to pay it forward through Unbranded.
“Besides the pop-up exhibitors, we’ve set up an area inside the shop as a co-working space. So if you need a place to work during the day or just want a change of atmosphere, come hang out with us.”
Unbranded exhibitor hours are Monday-Friday, 3-7 pm, and Saturday, 11 am-7 pm, but the space is open during “normal” business hours should anyone want to hang out or co-work. Everyone is welcome to attend the opening happy hour on November 3, 5-7 pm, and there will be a happy hour every Tuesday through the two-month duration to introduce the new groups as they come in.
Next round starts November 10, with a to-be-announced batch of brands.
