Foodies may get a little fussy this week, because there ain't much in the way of food and drink events. Maybe everyone is saving up for Valentine's Day — and if that's the case, we have you covered, whether it's a sweet treat or a romantic dinner for two.
But worry not. There are options, including a couple of wine dinners, a cake pop class and a scenic walk through the garden in Balch Springs.

Oak Cliff Wine Cellars Wine Dinner at Nosh
Join Oak Cliff Wine Cellars for the release of its Rhone-style wines. Owner JR Richardson presides over the 2012 vintage release as attendees enjoy a four-course meal with pairings, including Diver scallop on Israeli couscous with 2011 Sonoma Chardonnay, and lamb shank with Texas quail on fingerling potatoes and winter vegetables with 2009 Lovers Lane Petite Sirah and 2010 Wild Diamond Syrah. Chamberlain's "That's Amore" Fine Wine Dinner and Cooking Demonstration
Chef Richard Chamberlain gets a jump on Valentine's Day with this Italian-themed dinner paired with Italian wines. It begins with a prosecco-heavy reception and progresses into a four-course meal. Dishes include butter-poached lobster and risotto-style butternut squash; panzanella salad with mushrooms, artichokes, mozzarella and black truffle; prosciutto-wrapped porchetta stuffed with Swiss chard and boar sausage; and strawberry-rhubarb panna cotta. Edible Wild Plant Walk at Eden's Organic Garden Center
This plant walk through Eden's Organic Garden Center allows you to gather the special wild edibles of late winter in North Texas. Class is educational; you can also taste as you go. Wear comfy shoes and bring a bag to collect your edibles, as well as your own bowl and utensils. Cameras are allowed. Tickets are $30 a person; children under 8 are free.

Vegan Cake Pops Class at Whole Foods
Cake pops are the latest baking craze and make great Valentine's Day treats. In this two-hour class, the bakery team at Whole Foods Park Lane shows you how to make a vegan version — and in the process changes the way you think about dessert. Class size is limited to 20 guests. Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased online.
