Upscale market Eatzi's enters shopping fray with new Dallas location
Upscale Eatzi’s Market & Bakery, the European-style market, is opening a new store in the most shopping-est neighborhood of all: at Preston Royal Village Shopping Center.
The store will open directly across the street from Central Market, with a Whole Foods Market down the street at Preston Road and Forest Lane. Trader Joe's, where are you?
This will be the sixth branch of Eatzi's, and its second new store in 2017, following a branch in Fort Worth that will open in early May in the University Park Village Shopping Center.
The closest location to this new store is at Lovers Lane and Dallas North Tollway. The original location opened at Oak Lawn Avenue in 1996; there are also locations in Plano and Grapevine.
Eatzi's CEO Adam Romo says that Preston Royal is a "natural and strategic" move.
"The Preston Royal Village Shopping Center is an iconic location which is a perfect fit," he says in a release. "Like most consumers, this area’s residents are seeking quality, convenient take-home food options."
The new Eatzi's will offer chef-prepared meals including grilled meats and seafood, sushi, "custom" sandwiches and salads (versus the factory-made versions), deli meats and cheeses, pastries, desserts, beer, and wine.
Eatzi’s serves coffee and espresso, for drinking or making at home, and more than 45 varieties of breads and sweets.
Romo, who has been CEO since early 2011, says that the shift towards fast-casual dining is here to stay.
"Time is a luxury most of us don't have, and consumers are increasingly searching for a quality, convenient meal solution rather than cooking at home or committing the time required to dine at a full-service restaurant.
The Preston Royal store will go into the space previously occupied by Copper Lamp, at 6025 Royal Ln., and is set to open in October.
