Fresh Dallas restaurant deemed one of America's best for foodies
As a city full of foodies, we're constantly chatting about where to eat and what to check out next. Now OpenTable is weighing in with a roundup of the 100 Best Restaurants for Foodies, which includes one of Dallas' newest and most eagerly anticipated eateries.
The reservation website combed through millions of reviews to compile a list of the top restaurants deemed "Fit for Foodies" by OpenTable users. Each restaurant's average score in this category was used to determine the nationwide list of 100 spots.
Austin-born Uchi Dallas is the sole representative for the Big D. OpenTable clearly likes Austin since it lands a whopping eight restaurants on the list.
Of the popular sushi spot, OpenTable says, "Chef Tyson Cole combines unexpected textures and flavors and pushes the boundaries of Japanese cuisine, drawing flavor inspiration from numerous points around the globe and mixing traditional master knife work with cutting-edge techniques."
According to OpenTable, newly opened restaurants were favored on the list. "A quarter of the eateries [have] opened in 2015 alone and the majority of honorees were founded in the last five years." This technically applies to Uchi Dallas, which opened earlier this year, though the original location has been a mainstay of the culinary scene in Austin since 2003.
The Austin-area restaurants included Foreign & Domestic, Odd Duck, Salty Sow, Lenoir, Uchi, Qui, The Peached Tortilla, and Cedar Park's Soto. The Lone Star State has the third most foodie restaurants in the nation, beat out only by New York and California.
