The Cocktail Chronicles
Beer in a bourbon cocktail? That’s how this Dallas bartender does it.
Beer and bourbon go quite well together, especially when IPA is one of the ingredients in this clever take on an old fashioned, mixed up by Dallas bartender Alex Fletcher.
Watch the fourth episode of Old Forester’s Cocktail Chronicles to see how he does it, and then follow the recipe below to make your own.
#68 Old Fashioned
Yields 1 drink
2 ounces Old Forester 1870 Bourbon Whisky
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
.25 ounces IPA and brown sugar reduction
1 orange
Place two sections of orange peel in the bottom of a cocktail glass and press gently with a muddler.
Add bourbon, bitters, and IPA reduction to the glass.
Add ice and stir slowly.
When it dilutes, it’s ready to serve.
