The Cocktail Chronicles
Dallas bartender does a boozy riff on a traditional Christmas treat
Top Dallas bartender Charlie Pap is mixing up Christmas in a glass, though perhaps not in the cinnamon-eggnog-vanilla way you're used to. For this episode of Old Forester's Cocktail Chronicles, he uses fig jam as his secret ingredient, which he says works as a nice accompaniment to bourbon's sweet notes.
Watch the video and then put a little Christmas cheer in your own glass with the recipe below.
F.O.F. Figgy Old Fashioned
Yields 1 drink
2 ounces Old Forester 1870 Bourbon Whisky
2 dashes black lemon bitters
1 heaping teaspoon fig jam
1 lemon
1 orange
Muddle lemon peel and black lemon bitters thoroughly in glass.
Stir fig jam and bourbon in a separate mixing glass until jam is dissolved. Add ice and stir until properly diluted.
Strain into the first glass, and add large format ice cube. Garnish with orange peel.
