These Dallas-Fort Worth bars are open on Christmas Day 2017

Nothing says the holidays like a mad, desperate escape from a family gathering to the dark, welcoming atmosphere of your local bar. Many are accommodating by opening on the holiday for your drinking (and in some cases, noshing) needs.

Here are the bars open for business in Dallas-Fort Worth on Christmas Day:

Anvil Pub
Deep Ellum mainstay opens at 7 pm with food and drink until 2 am.

Armoury D.E.
Deep Ellum gastropub will open at 7 pm, booze only.

Barcadia Bar & Grill
Both Dallas and Fort Worth locations are open regular hours beginning at 11 am.

The Barley House
Veteran bar on SMU Boulevard opens at 7 pm.

Basement Bar
Cozy Stockyards spot is open regular hours, from 6 pm-2 am.

Crafty Irishman Public House
Pub in center of downtown Dallas opens 4 pm-2 am with special Irish coffee and butterscotch spiked hot cocoa drinks and full kitchen.

Dot's Hop House
Patio-riffic Deep Ellum spot opens the bar only at 7 pm to 2 am.

Deep Ellum-adjacent bar opens at 8 pm util 2 am, with a special frozen egg nog, sprinkled with nutmeg.

Fillmore Pub
Downtown Plano spot opens with beer and festive atmosphere at 7 pm.

Flying Saucer Draught Emporium
Downtown Fort Worth beer temple is open from 5 pm to midnight; so is the location in Addison.

Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House
East Dallas haunt opens at 8 pm, bar only, no food.

The Grapevine Bar
The Grapevine opens late: from 8 pm-2 am.

Holy Grail Pub
Welcoming Plano bar-restaurant will open at 6 pm with beer and grub.

Idle Rich Pub
With this McKinney Avenue pub closing in early 2018, this year will be its final Christmas, sob — open 8 pm-2 am.

Inwood Lounge
Before most Dallas bars were born, the lounge at the Inwood Theatre was serving on Christamas Day. Hours are 8-10 pm.

Lakewood Landing
East Dallas dive bar opens doors at 8 pm, drinks only; the kitchen is closed.

Libertine
Greenville Avenue staple opens for brunch on Christmas at 11 am. Kitchen is open til midnight, bar is open until 2 am.

Lee Harvey’s
Casual Cedars spot opens at 6 pm for its usual laid-back fun. The kitchen is closed, but there are free s'mores. You heard that right: free s'mores.

The Loon
Stalwart bar in Uptown Dallas opens as usual at 11 am.

Meddlesome Moth
Design District restaurant-bar opens at 5 pm with food, craft beer, and drinks.

Old Monk
Henderson Avenue pub will open on Christmas Day at 8 pm with mulled wine and spiked eggnog; the kitchen is open until midnight.

The Rustic
Uptown hangout opens at 6 pm, with homemade tamales and Real Ale Fireman’s #4 for $3 a bottle.

McDonald's closes 2 CosMc's beverage spinoffs in Dallas-Fort Worth

After less than a year, McDonald's is cutting back on its CosMc's beverage spinoff, and that includes shutting down locations in Dallas-Fort Worth.

McDonald's introduced the beverage led concept in December 2023, when it opened the first location in Bolingbrook, Illinois. The concept — which seemed to be competing with Swig, the drive-through drink chain from Utah — features coffee, lemonade, slushies, and energy drinks, plus bites such as the Egg McMuffin, hashbrowns, and McPops — like doughnut holes.

They went on to open six more locations, all in Texas: two in San Antonio and four in DFW. Both San Antonio locations still show up on the website as open but two have closed in DFW so far, as follows:

Watauga at 7304 Denton Hwy.
Arlington at Abram's Alley, 300 E. Abram St. #150

Their website currently shows the Dallas location at Campbell Road, which was the original location, as still open, as well as a location in Fort Worth on McPherson Boulevard.

Despite the closures, McDonald's still plans to continue the test in the US for the foreseeable future, a spokesperson says, including opening two new smaller format stores in Texas in 2025.

That includes a location in Allen at 861 W. Stacy Rd.

The plan is to close three of the larger locations that were remodeled into CosMc’s locations — meaning that one of the locations currently still open is due to close.

"Since opening CosMc’s, we have had the benefit of testing out different location sizes and setups – from revamping larger restaurant spaces to building smaller prototype locations that focus more on the drive-thru and digital experience," their statement says. "We learned that the smaller format stores allow us to test new, unique circumstances that are reflective of our customer base. As a result, we will open two new smaller format stores in Texas in 2025, and close three of the larger locations that were remodeled into CosMc’s locations."
