There are several opportunities to do just that this week with food and drink specials, a cookie decorating party, and more. Always wanted to learn to make the perfect souffle? Thursday, March 14
Souffle Class at Central Market
Separate eggs, whip, and fold during this souffle cooking class at Central Market on Lovers Lane. Participants will make two savory (spinach and cheese) and two sweet (chocolate and Grand Marnier). Tickets are $65 and the class begins at 6:30 pm.
Luck O’ the Icing Cookie Decorating Party at Vector Brewing
Learn how to decorate cookies with royal icing during this St. Patrick’s Day-themed class hosted by Mallory’s Cookie Jar at Vector Brewing. The $65 price includes six cookies, four icing colors, sprinkles, tools, goodie bag, a beer or glass of wine, and a cookie to snack on while decorating. Class begins at 7 pm.

McKinney St. Patrick’s Day Beer Walk
There’ll be 20 stops during this day-long sip-and-stroll event in downtown McKinney. Participants, who are encouraged to wear green, will receive a beer tasting cup and a map before embarking on the journey. Participating breweries include Community Beer Co., Martin House Brewing Co., Four Corners Brewing, and at least a dozen others including spirits partners, too. Tickets are $35 and are sold for timeslots of 11 am, 1 pm, or 3 pm. The party runs until 6 pm.
45th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at J. Gillian’s Bar & Grill
In Arlington, St. Patrick’s Day is synonymous with J. Gilligan’s annual block party. The time-honored bar and grill hosts a day-long bash that draws hundreds for live music, green beer, and those iconic Irish nachos – cottage cut skin-on fries with melted cheddar, bacon, chives, tomatoes, and jalapenos. Bring the kids early from 11 am-4 pm for face painting, balloon creations, and a bounce house. The party heats up with live music starting at 4 pm.
St. Patrick’s Day at Thirsty Lion Gastropub
The Irish-inspired gastropub chain, which has locations in Euless, Dallas, Irving, and The Colony, which two days of St. Patrick’s Day parties. All locations will feature Irish dancers, bagpipers in full regalia, giveaways, sampling, and menu specials. Featured drinks include the Irish Old Fashioned, Bailey’s chocolate espresso martini, and Irish Mule, the latter of which will donate $1 to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation from every drink sold. Menu specials include bacon cheddar potato cakes, traditional Scotch eggs, Irish shepherd’s pie, and whiskey Bing cherry bread pudding.
