Chip City Cookies from New York to debut in Texas with McKinney shop

Cookies from Chip City
A cookie company from New York is coming to Texas: Called Chip City Cookies, it's a gourmet cookie chain that makes giant cookies with soft centers, and it will open its first Dallas-area location in McKinney at 6650 Alma Rd #100, just north of SH-121, in the former Zero Gradi dessert shop space, on September 19.
The concept was launched in 2017 by childhood friends Peter Phillips and Teddy Gailas in Astoria, Queens. A press release that uses the words "ooey gooey" about 100 times claims there are now 50+ locations (although their website says there are 49, in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida, which is it Chip City, 49 or 50+).
According to the release, Chip City is known for its weekly rotating menu of more than 100 flavors — but that number is stretched out over the course of the year, with about 15 to 16 flavors in stores at any given time.
Flavors include S’mores, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Berry, and the "iconic" Cannoli Cookie, a sugar cookie mixed with mini chocolate chips and cannoli shells, topped with cannoli cream and mini chocolate chips.
Each batch is baked fresh — far preferable to stale — with the signature ooey gooey center mentioned above.
Some of the current limited-edition flavors listed on their website include
- Pecan Brownie Crookie — a croissant stuffed with brownie cookie dough, topped with chocolate fudge frosting, caramel, and chopped pecans
- Strawberry Shortcake— vanilla bean base with a strawberry center, topped with strawberry icing and cookie crumbs
- Pumpkin Coffee Cake — roasted pumpkin cookie filled with espresso dulce de leche, topped with vanilla icing and cinnamon streusel
- Peanut Butter & Jelly Thinwich - thin peanut-butter cookies with a grape jelly and creamy peanut butter center
- White Chocolate Cranberry Oat - spiced oatmeal cookie with dried cranberries and white chocolate chips
- Cookie Brookie - brown sugar cookie with dark chocolate chips and a fudgy brownie base
- Frootie Crunch - sugar cookie mixed with and rolled in fruity cereal flakes
- Triple Chocolate - Fudge cookie mixed with dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and white chocolate chips
A single cookie starts at $5.50 and each cookie has about 650 calories give or take.
Bringing the concept to DFW is Igor Stevovic, who previously brought Dallas the acclaimed 400 Gradi pizzeria concept. He's a quality fanatic who became enchanted with Chip City's cookies.
"I have a history of aligning with good-quality food and these just don't compare with any other cookie," he says.
