Shuttered Dallas restaurant known for sticky buns to reopen in Plano
A one-time Dallas breakfast spot is being revived: Crossroads Diner, the restaurant that served biscuits and sticky buns in Dallas for a decade, is rising from the dead, this time in Plano, at Rosewood Property Company’s Heritage Creekside.
According to a release, it'll open at 645 Powell Ln. in the fall.
Crossroads was first opened by chef Tom Fleming in Dallas in 2010, and became known for its sticky buns, chicken & waffles, biscuits, grits, corn beef hash, breakfast schnitzel, tostadas, and frittata with chorizo.
In 2015, it relocated from its original spot on Walnut Hill Avenue to 17194 Preston Rd. in North Dallas, then closed in 2020 during the height of the pandemic.
CultureMap has surely larded on the praise over the years including putting it on a Best Breakfasts list in 2013, shortly after CultureMap was founded; and nominating it for Best Biscuits in CultureMap's 2018 Tastemaker Awards — along with other excellent biscuit purveyors such as Jonathon's, Whistle Britches, and Norma's Cafe. (Barbec's, too, but they're closed now.)
The Plano location will reprise the breakfast and lunch hours on Tuesday-Sunday, with a full bar, but will also be open for dinner Wednesday-Saturday, senior-citizen-style, from 4-8 pm. It'll occupy a 3,300-square-foot space with outdoor patio.
Heritage Creekside is a 156-acre, mixed-use development near the intersection of Central Expressway and President George Bush Turnpike. A focus on walkability enables residents in the surrounding single-family homes, townhomes and apartment communities to easily access these restaurant and retail options, as well as the restored creek bed of Pittman Creek. The restoration of existing creeks and tributaries intertwines nature with the community at Heritage Creekside.
Michael Walters with Falcon Realty Advisors served as broker for Crossroads, and Michael Kaplan with Venture Capital was Rosewood Property’s broker. Crossroads Diner is Heritage Creekside’s latest restaurant and retail addition, joining Taco Joint, Flying Fish, Rodeo Goat, and Pax & Beneficia Coffee.
“Crossroads Diner is a local Dallas favorite, and we are ecstatic Tom Fleming and his team chose to bring their beloved fare to Heritage Creekside,” says Rick Perdue, president of Rosewood Property Company. “We focus on bringing a curated mix of tenants, and this makes Heritage Creekside a great place to live, work and visit. Crossroads Diner perfectly fits this standard.”
