Aw, Shucks
Cedars Social owners set to open The Establishment, a newfangled oyster bar inKnox-Henderson
When a new restaurant wants to celebrate its opening with an oyster fest, that’s an announcement we can get behind.
The Knox-Henderson neighborhood will welcome bar-centric The Establishment, from Cedars Social veterans Brian Williams and Michael Martensen, in December. (At least that’s the plan.) The restaurant will go into the space formerly occupied by Trece. Well, part of it, anyway.
To whet the appetites of the new neighbors, Williams and Martensen are throwing a party Sunday, October 28, with $1 oysters and $5 drinks.
To whet the appetites of the new neighbors, Williams and Martensen are throwing a tented party Sunday, October 28, 2-6 pm, in the parking lot next to 4513 Travis St., site of the new restaurant. Enjoy $1 oysters, $5 Palm beer, $5 Aylesbury Duck Vodka oyster shooters and $10 Etoile sparkling wine. JT Donaldson is on the books to DJ.
The Establishment, according to an official release, will be a new take on the classic oyster bar, with a rotating selection of small plates, house-made charcuterie and, of course, oysters from both coasts. We expect word on an executive chef in the coming weeks.
Considering the ownership, the beverage program, not surprisingly, will be “ambitious.” Recently NYC mixologist Kyle Ford told CultureMap he thought the Dallas cocktail scene deserved more props and pointed to Cedars Social as one of the places in town getting it right.
