An onslaught of food and drink events that rival any other holiday time of the year. This week’s mammoth list includes festivities for all, plus tequila dinners, truffle features, and a grand opening event.

    Wednesday, February 7

    Casa de Reyes Tequila Dinner at Knife Plano
    Former NFL player and Casa de Reyes owner Dekoda Watson will be on-hand to talk through this four-course tequila pairing dinner. Menu items include striped bass ceviche, red snapper Veracruz, 44 Farms New York strip with mole poblano, and churros with cajeta ice cream. All courses will come with either a Casa de Reyes cocktail or tequila poured neat. Reservations are $125, plus tax and service charge, and dinner begins at 6:30 pm.

    Thursday, February 8

    Aviators Grand Opening
    The new craft cocktail bar and wing destination in The Colony will celebrate its grand opening with 25 percent off all tickets from 4 pm to midnight. Note that lunch service will begin on February 12.

    Grain vs. Grape Dinner at On Rotation Brewery & Kitchen
    Four courses will be paired with both a beer and a glass of wine during this guided dinner, and guests get to vote or which pairing is best. Menu highlights include butter-poached shrimp with grit cakes, cream of roasted bell pepper soup, and slow-braised lamb osso bucco. Dinner is $120 per person, including tax and gratuity, and begins at 7 pm.

    Saturday, February 10

    Galentine’s Day Brunch at Elm & Good
    Enjoy DJ music, drinks, and brunch with your besties at The Kimpton Pittman hotel restaurant. Reservations available from 10 am-2 pm. Make plans for a Valentine’s Day Mimosa Walk afterwards, from 12-6 pm, including shopping, live music, and of course, mimosas.

    Galentine’s Brunch at Virgin Hotels Dallas
    Share Galentine’s-themed brunch boards paired with $7 sparkly pink mimosas and DJ music during this girlfriend brunch at Virgin Hotels Dallas. The brunch will run from 11 am-2 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

    Galentine’s Brunch at Dolce Riviera
    Take a girls’ trip to the Italian Riviera during this Galentine’s Brunch featuring tastes of Italy. The $55 prix-fixe menu includes choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Highlights include lump crab avocado toast with poached egg, island creek oysters, and salted butterscotch panna cotta. The brunch will be offered from 11 am-3 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

    Lunar New Year Celebration at Malai Kitchen
    The upscale Asian dining destination with locations in Dallas, Southlake, and Fort Worth, will celebrate the Year of the Dragon with special menu items. Red-colored cocktails including the spicy melon margarita and watermelon spritz will match the year’s theme of “luck and happiness.” The dining menu will also feature “Money Bag Dumplings” made with lamb, carrots, and edamame, and “Longevity Lobster Noodles.” All locations will randomly give away red envelopes throughout the day with vouchers for free apps, dessert, and prizes.

    Lunar New Year Celebration at Elephant East
    Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at Elephant East with dragon dancers and menu specials, including Chinese dumplings, whole steamed snapper, “Longevity noodles” and clementine cake. Pair with the tequila-based Dragon’s Breath cocktail. The specials will run through February 17, excluding Valentine’s Day.

    Lunar New Year at Wok Star Chinese
    The Walnut Hill Lane Chinese restaurant will host a Lunar New Year celebration featuring the JL Lion Dance Troupe at 5:30 pm, along with a dessert special of sesame balls, five for $6. The special will run through February 25.

    Tequila Dinner at Cantina Laredo
    Cantina Laredo’s Addison location will host a four-course tequila dinner featuring Aldez Tequila. Entrée choices include café y chipotle carne asada or enchiladas de camarones suizas. The evening will begin with an Aldez flight and each course will be paired with an Aldez cocktail. The dinner is $69.99 per person and begins at 7 pm with a cocktail reception.

    Sunday, February 11

    Galentine’s Pary at Sixty Vines
    Both the Uptown and Plano locations will invite girl gangs to escape to the wine country for a Galentine’s party. Festivities include rose flights, build-your-own-bouquets, permanent jewelry bar, photo ops, and more. Entrée specials will range from $13-$21. The party will run from 10 am-1 pm.

    Galentine’s Brunch at Community Beer Co.
    Build your own flower bouquet, pick out candies from the candy bar, and partake in Galentine’s Day-themed food and drinks during this brunch for gal pals. Reservations available from 10:30 am-1 pm.

    Galentine’s Afternoon Tea at The Joule
    The hotel’s Taschen Library will host a Galentine’s-themed Italian tea service featuring savory bites like salmon crudo and crab lettuce cups, lemon poppy seed scones, fine teas, and lots of bubbly. The price is $125 and seating times are 11 am or 2 pm. Additional dates include February 18 and 25.

    Valentine’s Tea Time at Apothecary
    Celebrate Valentine's early with afternoon tea service at Apothecary on Greenville Avenue. The two-course experience includes savory dishes, scones, and pastries along with two artisan tea pairings and a complimentary glass of bubbly. Reservations are $75 per person and the tea begins at 12 pm.

    Revelers Hall Mardi Gras Block Party
    Coinciding with the Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade, Revelers Hall will host its annual block party featuring live brass bands, street food, pop-up vendors, drinks, and dancing. (Fun fact: Revelers Hall co-owner Amy Wallace Cowan founded the parade.) The party will run from 12-6:30 pm.

    Crawfish Boil at Henry’s Majestic
    The Pittman Street bar and restaurant will host a 4 pm crawfish boil (market price) and feature a fried oyster po’ boy special along with king cake shots and hurricane yard sticks. The specials will be available February 9-11.

    Super Bowl Specials

    Several restaurants and bars are serving up specials for the Big Game. Here are a few to consider for game day, whether dining in or ordering to-go.

    Crown Block
    Pre-game at the sky-high steakhouse atop Reunion Tower. The brunch will include an elevated nacho bar, brunch stations, and breathtaking views. Price is $80 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and seating times are between 10 am-2 pm.

    Dirty Bones
    Party pack includes 50 boneless wings with up to five flavors, chips and triple dip, mini corn dogs, and jalapeno poppers for $50.

    Dough Bro’s Italian Kitchen & Bar
    From February 9-11, diners at all locations can order any large specialty pizza and receive another for half-price, plus a free two-liter soda. Good for dine-in and to-go orders.

    Grain
    Specials include $8 half-order of wings, $12 loaded nachos, $5 beers, and $7 team cocktails. Or order the Super Bowl LVIII package to go ($275, serves 6), which includes three pounds of smoked brisket, one smoked Carolina chicken, six smoked andouille sausages, six elote corn on the cobs, chips and queso, six rolls, Dr Pepper barbecue sauce, onions, pickles, and pickled peppers. Order by February 7.

    La Neta Cocina y Lounge
    Pre-Bowl Party Brunch from 12-4 pm will feature habanero wings and waffles ($14), Mexican sliders ($14), and Trash Nachos ($7). Stay for the game and DJ music. Wear your team jersey and get a shot on the house.

    Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar
    Order from the Big Game Bites menu, which includes specials like 20 smoked wings ($35), Thai chips and dip ($24), and baby back duroc pork ribs (full rack $33.50). Or go with the Big Game Bundle which includes six apps for $160 (serves 6-8). Order by February 8.

    Newk’s Eatery
    Diners can get two pizzas and a salad for $20 February 9 – 11. Choices include pepperoni, sausage and pepperoni, margherita, and barbecue chicken. Salad options include Caesar, Greek, or garden.

    Punch Bowl Social
    From 5-10 pm, grab game day swag, play football bingo, and enjoy drink specials including buckets of beer, themed ranch waters, and themed shots.

    Toppers Pizza
    It’s “Superweek” at the pizza chain, which means from February 9-14, customers can get a free medium pizza with any $10 purchase in the app. The free pizza will be available starting February 15.

    Twin Peaks
    The first 100 guests on February 11 will receive entry onto a squares board with the chase to win a $25 gift card each quarter. All Super Bowl attendees will receive coupons good for free fried pickles valid for use February 12-18 with a minimum purchase of $20 or more.

    Yardbird
    Dine-in features include Game Day Deviled eggs, End-Zone wings, St. Louis-style pork ribs, and Great American Burger. Specialty boxes to-go start at $150 for 27 pieces of fried chicken, mac and cheese, and buttermilk biscuits.

    Virgin Hotels Dallas
    Doors open at 3 pm at The Pool Club inside Virgin Hotels Dallas for a watch party with food and drink specials. Entry is free.

    Tom Thumb debuts 2 new supermarkets in the Dallas area

    Venerable supermarket chain Tom Thumb is celebrating the opening of two new stores in the Dallas area.

    Sanger
    A new Tom Thumb opened in Sanger at 1413 W Chapman Drive in Sanger on December 12. The long-awaited store spans 50,000 square feet with tens of thousands of items plus more than 1,000 local products.

    The store features a bakery, deli, meat & seafood, produce, and floral, as well as an in-store Starbucks coffee kiosk, pharmacy in store plus drive-thru lane, and Drive-Up-N-Go grocery pick-up.

    “We are so excited to open this Tom Thumb for the Sanger communities," says Division President Bill Neve in a statement. “Tom Thumb is excited to showcase our full-service grocery store and fresh new items that customers in Sanger will love."

    Sunnyvale
    On December 17, a Tom Thumb will open in Sunnyvale at 3400 N. Belt Line Rd. The first 300 shoppers will receive a bag of groceries, and all shoppers will enjoy the incredible deals and sensational offerings.

    The Sunnyvale store is slightly larger, spanning 59,000 square feet, but with a similar lineup of bakery, deli, meat & seafood, produce, and floral. The store will also feature an in-store Starbucks coffee kiosk, pharmacy in store plus drive-thru lane, and Drive-Up-N-Go grocery pick-up. The Sunnyvale in-store Starbucks kiosk is the first for Tom Thumb to offer mobile ordering in addition to in-store ordering.

    Division President Bill Neve says that they're "incredibly grateful to the town of Sunnyvale for their support of this new store and have been looking forward to meeting our newest customers and welcome them into their Tom Thumb!"

    • Prepared foods: Sushi made in-store, full-service salad case, hot line offerings, 400-plus cheese and charcuterie items, and what they call "the best fried chicken in town"
    • Bakery: Bread baked daily, deserts, five-star cake decorator on staff, in-store fried doughnuts, and exclusive items such as Christie’s cookies and Blue Bell ice cream cakes
    • Floral: Texas grown poinsettias for the holidays, bouquets, and arrangements, FTD service, balloon bar
    • Meat & Seafood: USDA choice and prime beef, organic and grass-fed, plus seafood purchases steamed at no additional charge

    Starbucks coffee baristas are ready to make customers’ favorite beverages whether they are hot or cold, including Nitro and Cold Brew, along with Starbucks brand pastries.
