Family-owned deli sandwich shop to open in Dallas' Oak Cliff Tower
Oak Cliff is getting a new sandwich shop: Called King's Deli, it's opening at 400 S. Zang Blvd. in the Oak Cliff Tower, and is a spinoff from a restaurant that first opened in Farmers Branch in 2022.
King's is a family-owned business from husband-and-wife chefs Jason and Delicia Fennessee, who started their culinary careers with their own catering company, called Kitchen Kings Catering, specializing in weddings, corporate events, private parties, and meal plans, in 2016.
They segued into the restaurant world in 2022 when they took over a space in a Farmers Branch center at 13500 Midway Rd. that was previously another sandwich shop called Benny's Deli.
Their sandwiches include their "Big Italian sub" with deli meats and cheese on a sub roll; their signature club sandwich with turkey, ham, bacon, and provolone cheese; a Cuban sandwich; teriyaki steak sandwich; and a Cajun po'boy.
The menu also includes soups and salads, but they get some of their highest marks for Cajun-accented dishes such as Cajun shrimp Pasta, with a creamy Cajun cheese sauce; Cajun grilled chicken sandwich; and a crab cake BLT. They're also highly rated for their friendly service.
The Oak Cliff location is in the Oak Cliff Tower, where they'll be in #LLC 30, which is on the lower level, the same level as parking garage, taking over a space that used to be another little deli. It's a sweet, well-lit space with clean white furniture and one wall painted a cheery red.
It'll be a slight expansion from the Farmers Branch location in that it will be a combination deli and cafe, with a coffee program for tenants and visitors in the building.
"We'd been looking for a Dallas location and were grateful when this became available," a spokesperson says.
It's slated to open in early to mid-August.
