May 5 officially marks Cinco de Mayo, an annual holiday that commemorates a battle won by Mexico in 1863. But given its arrival in the peak days of spring, it has evolved into a great excuse to drink and grab tacos, preferably on a nice patio.
In 2025, the holiday falls on a Monday, and you know what means: Plenty of DFW spots will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo all weekend long (and a few diehards will continue the celebration throughout the following week).
Here's where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Dallas-Fort Worth:
Abuelo's. Tex-Mex chain with four locations in the DFW area will introduce a new Mexican Candy Shot, plus Mexican grande draft beer, a Mexican Flag Margarita, regular La Grandeza margaritas on the rocks or frozen, and chile con queso appetizer. Each item is $5.
Artisan Circle. Fort Worth entertainment district will host a celebration on Sunday May 4, in partnership with La Cabrona Cocina Mexicana and La Pulga Tequila featuring live music, 20 vendors offering hand-crafted goods, pinatas, chamoy treats, and more, with kid zones. There'll be outdoor bar stations, and food booths open from 11 am-6 pm.
Blue Goose Cantina. Local Tex-Mex chain will host three-day-weekend drink specials and live mariachi bands. Cowboy margaritas and top shelf margaritas are $9 and Mexican candy shots are $3 all weekend. There's an all-day happy hour and $5 Cowboy margaritas. May 3-May 5. Frisco, Plano, Highland Village, McKinney, Grapevine, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie.
Casa Alma. Frisco Mexican restaurant will transform into a taqueria on May 5, featuring house margaritas and $3 street tacos all day long. The celebration will include a DJ from 4-8 pm.
The Charlotte. Cutesy restaurant on Henderson Avenue will offer$16birria tacos, plus $12 cocktails including frozen margarita, frozen mangonada, coconut margarita, and the Avispa.
Chuy's. Tex-Mex chain will offer drink discounts including $6 regular house 'ritas, $9 grande house 'ritas in a keepsake cup, $1 floaters, and $1 off Corona, Modelo, and Dos Equis beers. Queso bowls including Chuy’s signature recip and Lil’ Chuy Gooey will be $5.
Culpepper Cattle Co. Texan concept with locations in Dallas and rockwall will host happy hour all day on the patio, from May 3-5, with $5 house margaritas, $20 margarita pitchers, and $4 draft beers, plus Tejano music and a fajita grill station May 3-4.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. Taco chain will serve $5 sangria swirls and $5 house margaritas. Diners can add a Coronita to any margarita for $3.
Goat's Arena Bar and Grill. Sports bar in Fairview is hosting Loka de Fiesta, featuring cocktails made with Loca Loka tequila, with an appearance by Loca Loka co-founder and Bollywood star Rana Daggubati. 3:30 - 6:30 pm. Tickets are $50-$125 and include two complimentary drinks and a gift.
Mariano's Hacienda. Tex-Mex restaurant in Lake Highlands will serve frozen and on the rocks margaritas for $9 on May 5 from 3-9 pm.
Mercado Juarez. Tex-Mex chain with locations in Arlington and Fort Worth will host live mariachi bands and discounted margaritas, including a pineapple margarita with Hornitos Tequila that'll be $10 now through May 5, and only $5 on the 5th. Mariachi bands play 6:45–7:45 pm.
Mexican Sugar. Mexican restaurant will offer varying specials from May 1-5 including tableside Margarita Carts where you choose your tequila, garnishes, and rim. Sunday May 4 will feature live mariachi music.
Mountain Mike's Pizza. Pizza chain will celebrate with "Pizza de Mayo", featuring fiesta taco pizza with taco-seasoned beef, black olives, and onions over a jalapeño-cheese-tomatillo serrano sauce. Plus cheesy garlic knots with jalapeños, and chocolate mini churrs filled with hazelnut-cocoa cream. Select locations will offer Modelo Especial discounts.
Pyramid Bar. Fairmount Dallas hotel bar is partnering with Hornitos tequila in promotion in the lobby, offering free mini-sips of margaritas in three flavors: chipotle pineapple, jalapeño watermelon, and "Dallas margarita" May 5, in the lobby, from 3:30-5:30 pm.
Quarter Bar. On Cinco de Mayo, Quarter Bar will be decked out in festive décor with a live mariachi band, serving Mexican favorites such as queso, guacamole, churros, and taco plates with choice of gumbo, fried shrimp, or shicken for $10. Mexican Candy Shots with Cazadores Tequila will be available for $6 all weekend long.
The Salty. Oak Cliff doughnut shop will offer a special choco taco doughnut for one day only on May 5. The mini sized treats are made with brioche mini half moons with vanilla custard, dipped in dark chocolate, waffle cone chips, and peanuts.
The Seeker. Hotel restaurant in Stephenville starring chef Stephan Pyles will host a celebratory weekend that includes a Tex-Mex cooking class, a four-course dinner with Baja wine pairings, and a Sunday brunch featuring Mexican specialties. Tickets are $1,250-$1,500. May 2-4.

Sheraton Dallas. Open Palette and The Parlor will serve a $17 "Texas crystal margarita" with Patrón Cristalino Añejo, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, blood orange, and passionfruit. (Truthfully, the drink is part of Margarita Mile, a Visit Dallas promotional tour of margaritas in Dallas which seems to run from February 22-November 2, hard to say for sure since the Visit Dallas website is confusing.)
Sueño. Richardson Mexican restaurant will host a Cinco de Mayo block party with DJ and food stands such as a taquero stand with Mexican shrimp cocktail, elotes, trompo tacos, and desserts; a cantinero stand with frozen Pulquenabana margaritas, tequila flights, punch, and micheladas; and a paleta stand with strawberry chamoy and kiwi chamoy paletas. Inside the restaurant there will be a Cinco de Mayo prix fixe menu featuring Tlaquepaque corn masa quesadilla with Wagyu barbacoa, short rib, and carajillo French toast. 3-10 pm.
Taco Cabana. Restaurant chain is launching limited time items for Cinco de Mayo including a chicken bacon ranch taco, Cholula Rita with Cholula Mexican hot sauce, a tacos and tequila bundle with a dozen tacos and a gallon of margaritas, and fajita bar packages.
Tacos & Margs Crawl, Dallas. This event hosted by the national Bar Crawl Nation will hit multiple stops for tacos and margaritas along Good Latimer Freeway. Participating venues in Dallas include Green Light Social, The Sporting Club, Vice Club, and Cash Cow. The $25 ticket includes a taco at four stops of your choice along with discounted specials on margs. Registration starts at Backyard beginning at 2 pm.
Tacos & Margs Crawl, Fort Worth. This event hosted by the national Bar Crawl Nation hits multiple stops in the West Seventh area for tacos and margaritas along the way. Participating venues in Fort Worth include Maestro Tacos, El Chingon, Kung Fu Saloon, and Wonder Bar. The $25 ticket includes a taco at four stops of your choice along with discounted specials on margs at each bar. Registration starts at El Chingon beginning at 2 pm.
