Global Indian restaurant Saravanaa Bhavan to spice up CityLine Richardson

Savaranna Bhavan
A global Indian restaurant chain is coming to Richardson: Savaranna Bhavan, an Indian restaurant known for its all-vegetarian menu featuring cuisine from the south part of India, is opening a location at CityLIne, at 3551 Wilshire Way #100, a space previously occupied by the peripatetic Edith's Bistro, which closed in February.
According to a representative from the chain, the location is opening shortly, and will become the third DFW outlet, joining two others in Irving and Plano.
Savaranna was founded in India in 1981, in the capity city ofTamil Nadu and is owned by the Hotel Saravana Bhavan chain.
They have 27 locations across South India, three in North India, and more than 80 outlets in 25 countries. They made their Texas debut in 2012 in Irving. There are also locations in New Jersey, New York, and California.
Their menu is expansive, almost overwhelming, with more than 300 dishes in 10 categories, both spicy and non-spicy dishes. The easy entry point is their thali ("special meal"), a colorful sampler served on a stainless steel tray that gets you 10 little tastes of accompanied by white rice.
As is the case at many Indian restaurants, the atmosphere and service are no frills, with the emphasis entirely on the food. Online reviews of the Irving location indicate a dip in the quality during the pandemic but the location seems to have recovered.
