7 epic spring charity events Dallas young professionals must attend
The Dallas young professional scene is always busy. But spring seems to be when the twenty- and thirtysomethings step it up into high gear. Here are the seven events that everyone is talking about for spring 2018.
Masquerade, February 17
Kicking off the spring YP party parade is this annual event benefiting the Genesis Women's Shelter & Support. Thrown by its Young Leaders, this black tie-preferred party is taking place at Sixty Five Hundred and features delicious food and drink, dancing, and casino-style table games. Masquerade is key in raising money that helps provide safety, shelter, and counseling services at no cost to nearly 1,300 women and children.
YTAC Chili Cook-Off, April 14
Fall is for bubbly and spring is for chili at the Young Texans Against Cancer parties. Happening at Four Corners Brewery, this chili cook-off features local celebrity judges who give prizes for best tasting, best spirit, and best costume. Guests can also enter to win prizes, and tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
Boxer Bowtie, April 14
With a mission to gather, give, and grow, how can you miss this second annual party benefiting Education Opens Doors? This event, thrown at the Trunk Club, includes an open bar, delicious culinary creations, dancing, and a killer live auction. Education Opens Doors helps North Texas high school students successfully navigate the college application process.
Ronald McDonald Young Friends Party, April 27
This 15th annual celebration is happening at the stunning 400 N. Ervay venue and benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Chaired by Mary Gall and Courtney Klingaman, this evening includes food, drinks, dancing, and auction items. And although an entertainer has yet to be announced, this group of YPs usually brings the heat.
Day at the Races, May 5
New name. Same great party. Join the Oak Lawn Park Conservancy at Arlington Hall and Oak Lawn Park for its annual Kentucky Derby viewing party that includes Southern food, mint juleps, a silent auction, and a best-dressed and best-hat competition. There will also be table games, live music, and a wagering table. This one is always a doozy, so (helpful hint) make sure to hydrate beforehand.
Echelon 30M Gala, May 12
Perhaps the fanciest fete on the Dallas young professional circuit is this sixth annual affair that honors and celebrates The Salvation Army and all of its work in the community. Happening at the Ritz-Carlton, it will include light bites, drinks, dancing, and gorgeous gals and guys dressed to the nines.
The White Party, June 9
Summer technically doesn't begin until June 21, so this annual party, thrown by The Wilkinson Center Young Friends, always serves as the last spring soiree for young professionals. Dress in all white and support the organization that provides pathways to self sufficiency for Dallasites in need. This year's event is at Marie Gabrielle; find out more by attending the 2018 White Party Kickoff Happy Hour at 6 pm April 19 at at Hotel Zaza.
