The 411: More than 250 guests donned their most enchanting masks and gathered in the Dallas Design District for the inaugural Krewe to Cure Arthritis Mardi Gras Ball benefiting the Arthritis Foundation in North Texas.
The attendees enjoyed a New Orleans-inspired meal, including king cakes and the Big Easy's own Aunt Sally’s Creole Pralines. There was a mask contest for the most creative worn by a male and a female, fierce bidding in auctions, and entertainment by Felix & Fingers Dueling Pianos.
Dr. Leandra Woolnough and nurse practitioner Heather Benham from Scottish Rite Hospital updated the patrons on an Arthritis Foundation-funded research grant. Six-year old Jayda Gonzalez and her mother, Anna Gonzalez, shared their family's touching story of living with arthritis. FOX-4 anchor Clarice Tinsley emceed the program.
The event raised about $87,000 for the Arthritis Foundation.
"The inaugural Krewe to Cure Arthritis Mardi Gras Ball was a huge success," says Arthritis Foundation executive director Al James in a release. "We owe a debt of gratitude to our sponsors, auction donors, and our Mardi Gras Host Krewe."
The foundation helps provide life-changing information and resources, access to optimal care, and advancements in science and community connections that can one day lead to a cure for arthritis.
