Dallas gala-goers have the brains to know the excellence of this cause
What: Aging Mind Foundation Gala 2016
Where:The Joule
The 411: Close to 300 supporters gathered at the downtown Dallas hotel for the Aging Mind Foundation’s annual fundraiser, which resulted in $350,000, part of which is earmarked for the Center for BrainHealth at the University of Texas at Dallas. Contributing to that total were three “bucket list” live auction items: a Joule hotel catered wine dinner for eight in an art-filled high-rise home hosted by WFAA news anchor Ron Corning, an exclusive hunting trip to Togo Island, and a Kentucky Derby weekend courtesy of Yum.
This year’s honoree was beloved Dallas Morning News columnist Robert E. Miller and his wife, Shirley. A moving video tribute — which featured interviews with civic and business leaders such as Diane Brierley, Robert Decherd, Jim Moroney, Lori Palmer, Lee Cullum, and Nancy Barry — helped articulate Bob’s outstanding accomplishments during his 64-year career at the paper and his wife’s continuous support.
Naturally the evening concluded on that stunning rooftop terrace, where attendees did a little dancing, led by DJ Paul Paredes, and indulged in some dessert.
