What: Young Partners of The Family Place Sneaker Soirée
Where: Mavs Gaming Facility, Deep Ellum
The 411: On June 7, the Dallas-based family violence agency hosted its inaugural Sneaker Soiree to encourage young adults around Dallas to “take strides to end family violence.”
Guests donned their snazziest sneakers with cocktail attire to “walk in the shoes” of victims of family violence. Upon arrival, attendees saw clients' shoes displayed with their stories so they could experience what local victims have survived.
Then they were in for a fun and festive night planned by co-chairs Connie Babikian, Mary Catherine Finney, and JD Roberts. They danced to the tunes of DJ Steffi Burns, sipping on Oak and Eden whiskey and Impeccable Rosé Brut at the Whiskey/Bubble Bar. Then they posed for some “cheeky” sketches by The Original Butt Sketch artist.
Guests also entered to win fabulous raffle prizes, including Golden Goose sneakers, tickets to Dallas sporting events, and gift cards to Dallas hot spots.
In the end, the event raised over $50,000 for victims of family violence.
Young Partners of The Family Place helps to raise awareness and empower victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and other programming to inspire social change. For more information on joining the group or getting involved, visit familyplace.org.
