Now It's a Special Evening
Bill Cosby gets dumped for Dana Carvey at special Dallas fundraiser
Dallas charity LaunchAbility has tapped Emmy Award-winning comedian Dana Carvey to perform at the 14th annual A Special Evening fundraiser set for April 2, 2015, at Meyerson Symphony Center. Carvey is a much less controversial figure than the originally scheduled entertainer, Bill Cosby, whose name has been all over the news lately due to multiple allegations of sexual assault.
The charity was quick to react: It had just held a kickoff party on November 12, at the home of event chairs Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins, announcing Cosby as headliner.
Carvey was a Saturday Night Live regular, well-known for characters like the Church Lady, Hans (from the duo Hans and Franz), and the Grumpy Old Man. He also played Garth, Mike Meyers’ sidekick on Wayne’s World.
Carvey joins a long list of prestigious past entertainers for A Special Evening, including Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, Vince Gill and Smokey Robinson.
Sponsorships for A Special Evening with Dana Carvey range from $750 to $2,500. For more information, contact Karen Cooper at 972-991-6777 x. 7120 or Karen.Cooper@LaunchAbility.org. Or visit the LaunchAbility website.
