Teachers get a travel break with discounted bed-and-breakfast getaways
The school year is winding down, and just like students, teachers are planning well-deserved summer escapes. To honor their hard work and dedication, Austin-based BedandBreakfast.com has launched a Travel for Teachers program offering a host of getaway specials for teachers only at bed-and-breakfasts across the country.
Perks include discounted rates starting at 25 percent off; free nights; and teacher appreciation packages that feature massages, wine and other amenities.
We’ve culled the list of offerings for some of the best options in the Lone Star State, close enough for a long weekend — or longer — respite.
- Arkens Bed and Breakfast in Granbury: $150 per night mid-week (Sunday-Thursday); ends September 30
- Songbird Meadows Bed and Breakfast in Johnson City: 25 percent off stay and a bottle of Texas wine; May 15-August 31
- The Landmark Inn State Historic Site and B&B in Castroville: 25 percent off stay; expires August 31
If venturing outside of Texas is on the agenda, there are participating B&Bs throughout the United States and Canada. All participants in the Travel for Teachers program can be viewed online.
Family and friends can also give the gift of travel with BedandBreakfast.com Getaway Gift Card, good for summer break, winter holidays and spring break.
