American Airlines to introduce first DFW service to Brisbane, Australia
Read this with a Crocodile Dundee accent: Fort Worth-based American Airlines is offering its first-ever service between DFW Airport and Brisbane, Australia.
According to a release, it's one of four international airports that American is adding to its list of destinations, along with Veracruz, Mexico, and Rio de Janeiro. The airline will also resume service to Kona, Hawaii for the winter.
“American is thrilled to grow our international network to give customers more ways to escape the cold next winter,” says American Senior VP Brian Znotins. "Together with Qantas, customers can enjoy more ways to explore new destinations across one of the most comprehensive networks connecting the United States and the South Pacific."
Tickets for these new routes will be available for purchase starting February 5 on aa.com and American’s mobile app.
The new service out of DFW will enable one-stop connections to BNE from more than 100 destinations across the United States that currently require at least two stops.
Travelers can currently fly from DFW Airport to Brisbane via United Airlines, Qantas, Air Canada, and Korean Air, although they're all connecting flights.
The new flights are a joint business venture between American and Qantas. Maybe this is a good time to mention that Brisbane and the state of Queensland are known for sensational coastlines, a vibrant cultural scene, and 280 days of sun every year.
When American’s seasonal service begins, it will be the longest nonstop flight in the airline’s network at more than 17 hours. To that end, customers will be able to enhance their premium experience on American’s newly designed Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring 51 Flagship Suite seats and 32 Premium Economy seats.
Next winter, the partnership between American and Qantas will offer services at other non-DFW airports in Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), New York (JFK) and Vancouver, Canada (YVR), to four major gateways in Australia and New Zealand: Auckland (AKL), Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL), and Sydney (SYD).
The American–Qantas partnership will also connect to more than 200 destinations across the U.S., and nearly 70 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.
Other non-Australia flights
GIG: Starting October 27, American will launch service between DFW and Rio de Janeiro (GIG), joining other cities who fly there such as Miami (MIA) and New York (JFK). Maybe this is a good time to mention that Rio de Janeiro has impressive landmarks and world-renowned beaches.
KOA: American will also return service between DFW and Kona, Hawaii (KOA) on October 27. Operating alongside service to Honolulu (HNL) and expanded service to Kahului (OGG), customers will be able to choose from up to five daily flights to Hawaii from DFW. Maybe this is a good time to mention that Hawaii has luscious landscapes, natural volcanic-created wonders, and the spirit of aloha.
