Luxury French fashion house unveils new boutique at Dallas' NorthPark Center
While the fashion eyes of Dallas have been focused on Dior at the DMA, another French fashion house quietly opened doors to a new store not far from its old home. Saint Laurent officially debuted its new NorthPark Center boutique on June 1.
The store is located on level one between Neiman Marcus and Dillard's.
The NorthPark Saint Laurent is the brand's only Dallas boutique, filling the void after it departed Highland Park Village, where it had operated since 2012. According to the Dallas Morning News, its lease there ended in early 2019. Saint Laurent's only other Texas boutique is in Houston.
"Under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello, appointed in April 2016, the House (of Yves Saint Laurent) offers today a broad range of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear products, leather goods, shoes, jewelry, and eyewear, under the 'Saint Laurent' logo," NorthPark says on its website.
Those who've visited the new blockbuster exhibition "Dior: From Paris to the World" at the Dallas Museum of Art will remember that French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008) skyrocketed to fame at age 21, when he was appointed the House of Dior's artistic director after Christian Dior died in 1957. Saint Laurent founded his own eponymous couture house in 1961.
"Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to introduce, in 1966, the concept of luxury prêt-à-porter with a collection called 'Saint Laurent Rive Gauche,' synonymous with youth and freedom," NorthPark reminds on its website. "Throughout the years, the House’s groundbreaking styles have become iconic cultural and artistic references, and its founder, the couturier Yves Saint Laurent, secured a reputation as one of the 20th century’s foremost designers."
YSL is now part of the global luxury Kering Group, owed by French billionaire François Pinault, which also includes Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Balenciaga, and more. Through a license agreement, YSL fragrances and cosmetics are also widely sold in department stores and boutiques.
The NorthPark Saint Laurent boutique is open from 10 am to 9 pm Monday-Saturday and 12-6 pm Sunday, at 8687 N. Central Expy., #320.
