    Real Weddings

    Airstream bar and breakfast fare on the menu at this laid-back wedding

    Sweet and nontraditional, Lindsey and Cameron Richter’s October 2017 wedding was a reflection of the couple themselves.

    The bride and groom met through mutual friends circa spring 2014, but took their time getting to know each other in group settings before exchanging numbers. Suffice it to say, once they did they hit it off.

    After nine months of dating, Lindsey and Cameron moved in together and have been "crazy happy," says Lindsey, ever since.

    The couple didn’t shy away away from marriage talk. In August 2016, after a day spent window shopping for rings, Lindsey found the one and officially became a bride to be.

    “Cameron just looked at me, smiled, and told the lady helping us to wrap it up,” says Lindsey. “There was no big gesture, and he may not have gotten down on one knee in a room full of roses, but it was a perfect reflection of our relationship.”

    Direct, sweet, and simple, it was a low-key engagement quintessentially Lindsey and Cameron. To follow it up, they opted for an intimate fall wedding with 60 family members and close friends.

    “The vision was sweet with nontraditional elements,” says Reytheda Jackson, wedding planner and owner of Simple and Chic Events. “She wanted to create an elegant feel but still allow her family and friends to feel comfortable.”

    The Springs Event Venue in Weatherford provided the perfect backdrop for the big day. Jackson utilized draping, greenery, and floral arrangements to personalize the space, working within a gray, mauve, and dusty rose color palette.

    Lindsey’s brother was ordained to officiate the ceremony. They said their vows beneath a 4-foot floral chandelier. Gray draping and the the bride’s gray dress, worn in lieu of traditional white, completed the scene.

    Following the “I dos,” guests spent cocktail hour gathered around an Airstream trailer, which doubled as the bar. They then went to the reception to feast on chicken and waffles, breakfast tacos, and omelets. As the bride and groom’s favorite meal is breakfast, it was only fitting that reception fare consist of breakfast standards.

    Doughnut cake, breakfast pastries, and parfaits closed out the day, perfectly paired with fresh coffee courtesy of Lattes on Location.

    “We always talked about marriage and our future together,” says Lindsey. “Cameron and I want the same things in life and are well on our way to building a pretty spectacular life together.”

    When springtime hits the South, there is plenty to celebrate, from gorgeous weather to The Masters golf tournament, Jazz Fest, the Kentucky Derby, and Dallas Blooms at the Dallas Arboretum, just to name a few.

    All that and more found its way onto chic chapeaus and sky-high hats at Mad Hatter's 2025, themed "Celebrating Spring in the South." The epic fundraising luncheon sponsored by the Women’s Council of the Dallas Arboretum assists with the development, growth, and maintenance of A Woman’s Garden, a major garden at the Arboretum.

    The Masters Mavens group won best in show.

    Chair Sara Friedman, honorary chair Cindy Feld, and Women's Council president Therese Rourk welcomed fashionably dressed guests to Ginsburg Plaza at the Dallas Arboretum on April 17, where wine, champagne, and specialty cocktails like mint juleps, bellinis, ranch waters, and the pink-hued Azalea were waiting.

    Kristyn Potter (@acaeventdesigns) captured the flirty, floral fashions with live sketches, while a lively and talented trio comprised of students from Lake Highlands High School Jazz Ensemble kept spirits high.

    The Mad Hatter's extensive silent auction drew plenty of interest, with restaurant gift cards, beauty treatments, jewelry, and travel all on offer.

    Those interested in competing for blue ribbons paraded their expertly crafted millinery before judges Amanda Shufeldt, Anne Stodghill, Ezé Azenabor-Grembowski, Kameron Westcott, Sharon Lee Clark, and John Clutts, before the jazz trio led a vibrant second line into Rosine Hall for the fashion show.

    Presented by NorthPark Center and produced by Jan Strimple, with NBC 5 anchor Laura Harris serving as emcee, the fresh fashions were as light as a spring breeze. Looks were from Etro, Maje, Me + Em, Nordstrom, Sandro, Scanlan Theodore, and St. John, with beauty by Glossier and jewelry from Eiseman Jewels.

    The hat winners then got their own turn on the runway:

    • Dallas Blooms (best use of fresh botanicals): Maryam Brown
    • Kentucky Derby (most elegant): Christine Phelan
    • Mardi Gras (most over-the-top, outrageous creation): Debbie Murray
    • Jazz Fest (best group): Taste of the Masters
    • Round Top (people’s choice): Mandi Bonilla
    • The Masters (best in show): Masters Mavens group

    Guests were then invited to sit down to a lovely lunch of chilled avocado soup and mixed greens topped with sous-vide chicken, marinated tenderloin, and a fried green tomato, all drizzled with peach-hot honey dressing. A Bananas Foster tart proved a sweet ending to a positively enchanting day at the Dallas Arboretum.
